What do you think of this 'look'?

I rather like this dress and the boots for smart casual weekend wear ( not the scarf).Coming up to Christmas we've quite a few days out planned and I don't feel I want to always be in jeans. White stuff also do the dress in a Navy and Hush have a similar one with a Burgundy top and navy skirt.
I was thinking it could be a very versatile look - just wondering what others thought. I'm a size 8-10 and 5'4 early forties?

I like the general look. I like the boots and tights. I don't like the dress. It looks very lightweight for winter and the quality doesn't look great. The hush version looks more substantial.

AnemonesCloser · 18/10/2015 16:30

The Hush one looks flimsy too. You can see through the skirt, looks almost gauzy.

Greengardenpixie · 18/10/2015 16:35

They have a blue one :)
Its not my style but i dont see anything wrong with it. I think it looks good on the model. If you like it, buy it or order it and try it :) I quite like it in blue.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 18/10/2015 16:38

I saw this in the shop, top is ok but I thought the skirt part was too flimsy and the materials didn't go together.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/10/2015 16:51

I don't like the boots. I think it's the ruching. And they are v expensive, whilst not looking it - lots of nicer ones around in the same price range, or even less.

Nearlyadoctor · 18/10/2015 17:14

Thanks for all the replies - I have decided to bite the bullet and order both from White Stuff and the Hush one as well to try. ( All free returns)
The boots are Oos online but they have a pair locally instore so are going to hold for me to try. 15% discount at WS as well - and I actually already thought they were v reasonably priced for a pair of boots.

"Oh! So my ordinary, comfy clothes are dull, drab and somehow make me invisible?

Crikey, I shall wear nothnig but dayglo pink form here on in!

My thanks, MNers. A drastic error has been averted!"

Calm down, dear, we can't all like the same thing. There's no need to take it so personally.

Just reporting back- all 3 dresses have arrived (White Stuff amazingly quick delivery arrived yesterday). I like all 3 dresses and love the boots.
The Hush dress is my favourite partly because of the colour way and the jumper part is a bit longer, but both the other two are really 'easy' dressing so to speak. At 5'4" they are all above the knee but not drastically so.

Yes the skirts on all 3 are quite flimsy but feel nice and swishy with thick tights. I think I will probably wear all 3 for smart / casual days out in the run up to Christmas and then eventually perhaps for work on days I am feel slightly more casual.

The boots are really comfortable and a dark charcoal so will go with most colours.

I do think they would all need careful washing but will use hand wash cycle on machine.

I personally think they are all quite good value for money for a whole outfit, although I know others may disagree and this comes down to individual expectations and budgets.

Happy shopper ( may need to try the scarf next) Smile Smile

I wasn't, that was sarcasm. It was intended to make those who are so free with their negative opinions think about how they phrase them. Anyone can be bitchy, but it takes little thought to offer a negative opinion without making someone feel like crap! Some of the previous comments weren't intended to help OP, they were intended to be judgmental and to let her know that they think she has shit taste. Not pleasant and, sadly, all too common on anonymous fora!

Occasionally the pointlessness of it annoys me enough for me to comment rather than ignore.

Nearlyadoctor happy days Smile
