posh rucksack/backpack for work - ideas anyone?

I keep having to cart loads of stuff (heavy laptop etc) about from location A to location B at work

My right shoulder, on which I have been carrying a ginormous shoulder bag is now hurting!

I need to get a backpack instead of a shoulder bag, I have decided.

Can anyone suggest a posh one that would look formal and work-ish? Could be fabric or leather. Any suggestions gratefully received.

This is lovely

Whistles do leather backpacks.

Longchamps also do them, le pliage ones are around £70 I think and then they also do more expensive leather ones.

I'm typing from research/memory as it's something I've considered but I reached conclusion that I'd still dangle it off one shoulder like a teen en route to school so it wouldn't improve anything.

Coo look at these! They are lovely. Thanks for the suggestions coconuta and mysteryf

Am linking Whistles and Longchamps below so all can see:
Longchamp backpack
Whistles green leather backpack

Slightly hilariously the blurb on the Whistles backpack refers to an "investment rucksack"

More suggestions welcome although I would pick either of these.

I like both the Whistles and Longchamp ones linked to. Personally I'd go for fabric - leather ones are heavy even before putting a laptop etc in.

uk.accessorize.com/view/product/uk_catalog/acc_1,acc_1.8/8890764100#product-reviews This seems like a good price, I thought it might not be big enough for what you need but one of the reviewers says she fits a laptop in.

Any of these? Both of my daughters have bags by these people

Patterned - this one is spotted but they tend to be floral www.cathkidston.com/backpacks/button-spot-mutli-strap-backpack-1016886

I suspect you would find the Longchamp one too small for your needs - it is neat but barely takes my iPad, wallet and make up bag etc . John Lewis has some good own brand ones . Fjallraven ( Swedish company) has a great range, a friend has a silver backpack from them which looks super chic (UK suppliers plus mail order direct from Sweden is often cheapest option). Look at the Kanken laptop bags - light but very well constructed , often with top handles as well so you can use them as tote bags too.

Thanks very much everyone [goes off to look at all of these]

The Fjallraven brand is horribly country pursuits. They even have a rifle bag.

I lust after one of these

mysteryfairy · 18/10/2015 16:38

The whistles one is sooooo beautiful. I need it to have 50% off really to justify it. Fingers crossed for Xmas sales! When I was doing backpack research I read an article saying they are only popular in low crime places - apparently OK in Paris, not safe in New York.

AFewGoodWomen · 18/10/2015 17:44

I am surprised Paris is considered low crime. The metro is rife with pickpockets.

nongnangning · 18/10/2015 18:19

Wow some fantastic options here. Obviously there are more formalwear backpacks about than I thought - I have just not been looking out for them before now

I am quite pleased the Liberty one is out of stock and thus I will not be tempted to part with £450 :) It is very nice. The Whistles also lovely. I work near a House of Fraser and after this thread will now go in and take a look.

The Cath Kidston spots I also liked, although more for the weekend.

Thank you everyone for all these great suggestions.
