Date with my husband - help me find something to wear!

I am going out for a posh(is) dinner with my husband for the first time in forever. I am a SAHM, never dress up (except 'family wedding' type outfits - not the look I am going for) and binned a whole load of going out outfits after DD1 was born as I changed shape.

So, does anyone have any ideas? Need to be able to order online. Budget mid-level high street. Not designer but doesn't need to be Primark IYSWIM. Don't mind dresses or something I could wear with skinny jeans maybe?

In terms of info, I'm tall and a size 14 (top half is a 12, but my thighs and waist aren't there just yet). Stomach and waist definitely not my best feature. Legs ok but definitely in the realms of 'short skirt only with very thick tights' as I'm self conscious.

Please. Help! I would like, just for once, to look nice. Properly nice. Not 'Breton top, skinnies and boots, but has put on lipstick' nice.

White Stuff has some nice things, I think. Dresses, tunics - stuff you could dress down if you wanted to wear more casually, or dress up with some jewellery to look more glam.

SinglePringle · 16/10/2015 19:50

Go for a black dress, heels and some shocking underwear!

BrandNewAndImproved · 16/10/2015 19:56

I recently bought this dress. It looks amazing on. m.topshop.com/h5/product?productId=20585232

Definitely think Lbd is the way forward. You do need to go shopping though to try on. Sizes vary so much you Could order 50 things on line and nothing fit right. Warehouse is good for dresses.
Alternatively I would go for a sexy top and leggings combo - my Dh goes mad for me in my wet look leggings with a slightly longer sparkly top ( so bum is covered) and killer heals. River island is really good for going out type tops and their leggings are the best around.

I've had some lovely things from quiz. They are not all bling. We are about the same body shape . I'm a 12-14 top and a 14- 16 bottom and hip.

They had a lovely dress on their website that I have which looks really nice on. Will see if I can find it.

Well, while looking for my dress, I found this one. I think you would look lovely in this. Sexy but understated

BrendaandEddie · 17/10/2015 09:32

Dont do a dress if you hate your stomach and waist too.

BrendaandEddie · 17/10/2015 09:33

This is nice and the detail in the fabric would minimise the areas you aren't happy with.

I don't think husbands notice these little things. They are often just happy to have their wives back....if only for one night.

DickDewy · 17/10/2015 14:15

I could not wear any of those polyester dresses - I'd be a sweaty mess. Plus - you'd need to be really very slim to look even slightly nice in them.

wickedwaterwitch · 17/10/2015 14:19

Great underwear
Lipstick
Hair done
A smile
And heels if they make you feel good

wickedwaterwitch · 17/10/2015 14:20

And gave a lovely time!

wickedwaterwitch · 17/10/2015 14:21

have

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/10/2015 14:33

Don't like those dresses at all, sorry.

Like both of the MV tops, but I do think their stuff is overpriced when not in sales.

This skirt looks rather nice - with heeled ankle boots and a silk shirt, maybe?

Gillybobs · 17/10/2015 16:05

Not loving the dresses either, sorry

I'd go for something like this jersey dress, worn wth opaques and heeled shoe boots. Would be great worn casually too with flat boots and a cardi
