I've just splashed out on some Dior Glow Maximiser. I also own a sample size of benefit that Gal primer, benefit high beam and Mac strobe cream. I keep wanting to glow but I'm scared of being all stripy or Christmas bauble!
My usual make up routine:
No7 prep and prime
Moisturiser no7 radiance/oil of Olay day fluid
Breakfast
Estée Lauder double wear light applied with fingers
Double wear concealer with fingers
Mac laudyblush creme
Mac skinfinish mineralise natural
Blusher- usually benefit coralista
Brows
Lashes

That sounds like loads already I know but I don't think I look caked and I have a very honest sister who would sit me down for a chat!

Should I forget powder altogether and apply highlighter somewhere using fingers? Where? Do I add it to my foundation? Use it as a primer? Totally clueless!
I've tried touché éclat foundation but double wear light is the only one I found which lasts and doesn't make my skin go crazy. I have a friend who wears it too but she never looks as flat as me!
Sorry for the essay! Thanks if you've made it to the end!

The Dior, Benefit and Mac are all primers.

Benefit is a highlighter. Blend over the tops of cheek and brow bones. I usually do this prior to blusher.

The primers will leave a glow under your foundation. Powdering is up to you. I use a glowy primer and still powder over my shiny bits, so my T zone.

I meant protect and perfect no7

Thank you! Blend with fingers yes? What sort of quantity is best to make a difference but not look scary?

I blend with my fingers. I I probably put four to five tiny dots along cheek bones up to brow bones, then a little swipe on my brow bone and blend.

Also, if the primers are too glowy for you, try mixing some with your moisturiser.

I've never attempted it before blusher before. That sounds like a good tip!

You can do it after. I don't think it matters too much. I think I started doing it before because although they are different, highlighter and blusher both add a sort of glow, and it was easier not to overdo the blush if I did it after.

Posting for some evening traffic to see if anyone can recommend some how to tutorials.

Wayne goss on YouTube for tutorials. His contouring and highlights vids are the best. I learnt from these. I contour and big nose Grin

Watching with interest, I never know where the highlighter should go on my cheekbones either!

Nabootique · 16/10/2015 13:45

If you feel the cheekbone under the outer corner of your eye, along there.

Thank you! I've watched a Lisa Eldridge liquid luminiser tutorial too which I found quite helpful. I'm trying out a new foundation today so will try the highlighting tomorrow.
