I have been invited to a network meeting next week. There is a private showing of an exhibition followed by tea in a nearby Hotel in Central London.

It all sounds great and I don't usually get invited to these kind of events but i am unsure what to wear. The invite says Business Casual. What does that mean?? I need some help please!

Is it a smart hotel? Bc means 'not a suit'. A dress+blazer +heels would always be appropriate. Or : smart jeans, shirt/blouse, blazer, heels

Cravat Wink

I think no denim.

I like black trousers.

There may be nowhere to leave a coat, so big bag with collapsible umbrella and a waterproof sleeve.

recent workplaces have tended to be business casual most of the time. I'd agree with "not a suit" - a smart-ish dress, possibly with a blazer or smart (fine knit) cardigan, skirt or trousers and smart top, etc.

I'd steer clear of denim personally, some places would be ok but other not. If in doubt a fairly classic dress is always safe. TBH I think for women then often business smart doesn't even mean suits.

No denim! Suit not necessary. It's basically smart trousers/skirt with blouse, nice too.

Comfortable but smart.

Thank you very much for your advice. It is probably the kind of clothes I wear to work anyway. ( I thought it may be more casual which would be a problem - I largely have a work " uniform" ( various skirts, tops and jackets/ smart cardigans) or am very scruffy outside work!

Good reminder about a brolly too !

Sounds good... I may have been a bit off on the denim, in my industry it works when its designer jeans and a certain styling.. not a look I even attempt to pull off myself
