Am I being thick? Primark

I've seen a clutch bag on the Primark website, £10 and it's absolutely spot on for a dress I've just bought. However, I can't work out how to buy it Blush. There doesn't seem to be any way of putting it in a cart and checking out - you can favourite it and create an outfit, but you don't seem to be able to actually buy anything. What am I doing wrong?

You can't buy things on their site.

You need to go into store and find it.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 14/10/2015 17:23

They don't do online shopping. Either go a store or search on eBay, people sell new primark stuff on there for this reason .

carabos · 14/10/2015 17:25

Go to a store Hmm? Really? Nearest is 15 miles away. Groan. Why on earth don't they sell online? Confused.

What if I go 15 miles to the store and they don't have it?

Is the item number on the website? I've called a store before with the product item number and they put one aside for me at customer services. Might be worth a phone call!

carabos · 14/10/2015 17:28

No item number sadly.

Yup, they don't do online shopping.

As an aside, when did British people start calling shops 'stores'? It gives me the hump...

HairsprayQueen · 14/10/2015 18:27

I've also found that they often don't have what is on their website, it seems to be potluck what goes to which stores. If you have a big main one then it might be better than our average town one.

carabos · 14/10/2015 18:32

Well that's all a bit rubbish isn't it. Wonder why they don't have an online platform.

Asos used to sell selected primark items, might be worth checking if they have it.

BikeRunSki · 14/10/2015 18:35

Asks sometimes have Primark things.

Loraline · 14/10/2015 18:36

Simply not with it. Their business model is ask about fast turnover of stock. The logistics of online shopping, having to store stock etc. Just doesn't seem worth it.

That said I think asos do some of their stuff online

BikeRunSki · 14/10/2015 18:37

Sorry, they don't anymore.

BikeRunSki · 14/10/2015 18:38

There's lots of Primar clutch bags on eBay though.

moderndiamondcats · 14/10/2015 21:54

What you need to do is put a picture of the bag on here and see if anyone knows where you can get one just the same or similar somewhere else...

whitesklyer · 14/10/2015 22:38

i have a primark/penneys 1 mile away carabos - let me know details and ill send it to u (plus p and p)

lavazzzalover · 15/10/2015 07:10

15 miles away? My local Primark is 70 miles away.

Drive there or hop on the bus. 15 miles is nothing really is it.

carabos · 16/10/2015 19:27

Thanks for suggestions - lavazza I think 15 miles is a bit of a trek for a £10 bag. I might hop on the train into town tomorrow though and see if it's in the massive store there. If not, I'll look elsewhere.

they don't have online because online is only profitable if there is all of the below
high volume
no returns
paid for postage
higher average retail price
…. primark dont tick most of the boxes and don't need to do online to be hugely profitable and in growth. they occasionally do a few bits on asos.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 16/10/2015 21:45

Check ASOS or call them and they might post it to you.

Fairylea · 16/10/2015 21:48

Have a look at new look and boohoo.com their stock is often very similar to primark in terms of style and price.

carabos · 17/10/2015 21:31

Went to Primark today, needless to say they didn't have it. Got one that will do from Topshop.
