fat boots

I need some new smart boots for work.

I am a size 16 and my calves are chubby.

Find me some boots which will actually fit, rather then those elasticated pleats that may as well have flashing lights around them saying 'you're too fat for these'

Have you tried M&S? They have wide fit boots which fit chunky calves. Haven't looked this year but in previous years there has been a decent range to pick from

TheoriginalLEM · 14/10/2015 08:36

I have chubby calves too - I tend to stick to calf/ankle boots. I have found that fly do a style that look nice but woudlnt recommend as they are £££ and fell to bits after about a month! Also Dr martins have a nice style of boot that fit my calves but haven't seen this year.

Sorry thats not much help, just marking my place.

If you have cash,Ted and muffy who used to be Duo. They were excellent quality but very spendy.

Less so,Evans usually have a range of leather boots as well as plasticky tat.

M&S also an option.

Crankycunt · 14/10/2015 08:43

A few weeks ago Evans had a sale, I got some Chelsea boots and knee high black boots for £30.00, they are synthetic but so far so good.

Only1scoop · 14/10/2015 08:50

M&S do a wider calf range and Gabor

Only1scoop · 14/10/2015 08:52

My Gabor ones are riding style with no expandable visible 'fat stretch' bitsGrinwhat style are you after?

recyclingbag · 14/10/2015 09:15

I want ones I can wear with dresses.

I hadn't really considered ankle boots which would solve the problem entirely.

Make sure they are not Cankle boot style Wink

recyclingbag · 14/10/2015 09:18

Oh god what are they?

I splashed out on Duo and they barely lasted the season, even after them replacing a pair. So not worth it.

The Shoe Tailor do different combinations of foot width and calf size. There's a few humdingers but lots of really nice ones. Evans too.

DipsoHippo · 14/10/2015 09:22

I feel your pain. Tried some on in Evans but when I looked down, they had a welly boot look to them (on me... another lady tried them on, and looked FAB)

Currently I have a naice pair of black ankle boots, which have a kinda cowboy look to them (sound hideous, don't they!). With black tights, they are my go-to "wearing a dress for work" shoes

recyclingbag · 14/10/2015 09:31

Ooh link please hippo.

I have them a while, they are Marco Tozzi. Not sure if the same style still exists but they have a lot of similar ones on Amazon

Boots

I'm on the lookout for an amazing pair of ankle boots too, but I have enormous ankles/calves. Like HUGE. Sigh.

Duo are crap- definitely don't recommend, and nothing I like on Evans. Have ordered two pairs of Ugg ankle boots to try (the formal leather type ones, for work) in a size up... no plan B!

hairbrushbedhair · 18/10/2015 23:15

I got some from simply be last year, still going strong and they were measured exactly to my calf

frikadela01 · 19/10/2015 04:52

Simply be have a number of different calf fittings. I ordered the largest size without measuring, assuming that since I have NEVER had knee boots that fit the smaller width fittings would be tight... how wrong was I, my boots came and I looked like I was wearing waders. Once I got the right width I found my boots to be very comfy and feel trendy. Also reasonably priced. Also try JD williams, owned by same company as simply be but I've found they have different deals on.

I tried these Hush Puppies on in Jones the Bootmaker and they were very large on the calf. I looked inside because I was surprised how big they were and they said large/wide. The reviews all say they are big on the calves too.

They were lovely and waterproof too.
