ankle boots AND mid calf boots?

WaitroseEssentialPancetta · 11/10/2015 07:27

I've bought some black ankle boots, should I also buy the mid calf boots of the same thing or can I wear the ankle boots for everything? They're pretty much the same style but I don't often buy stuff. What would you wear a mid calf boot for that you couldn't wear an ankle boot for?

I always think that calf length boots are only for those with very long legs! (Which I don't have!)

I am 5'8" and I guess my legs are in proportion so should be long ish? I just don't know whether I should be wearing these boots with a dress or jeans or whatever

Get an ankle boot as can be more comfy with trousers and because there are some great ones around this year

But if you can look for a different style or colour... so you can create more versatile looks

If you have 2 pairs of boots, they will last more than double 1 pair of boots of you alternate so it is definitely not a waste of money (as shoes last if they rest between wears) and in winter you will probably want boots daily

I agree with mouthful, I've got short legs and can't wear calf length boots. I stick with ankle boots cos I think they suit me best and there are so many lovely ones about anyway.
Of course all this may be my own insecurities.

Calf boot: for dresses to stay warm (ankle boot + dress is trendy this year so will be okay next year, past it after that). Long boots is a classic so always in style

Also you can wear over skinny jeans which is an outfit that highlights your boots. Ankle boots + jeans = I am wearing jeans today, here is a shoe option that works for winter

(I am generalising a bit, but hope you get the idea... I have black and brown knee boots, 2 pairs of ankle boots - 1 more casual grey, 1 more smart black - .and get around 5 years use from each pair over 6 or 7 months of the year so I think that 2 pairs is totally justifiable

Might you consider a pair of brown knee boots as an alternative to black (or you might try black long boots, brow or grey ankle boots)

Btw. .. Black goes with black and lots of colours, brown for navy, also good for jeans, and many colours, plus v fashionable this year and always a classic

I'm getting some new calf length boots this year, even though ankle boots are more in. my rationale is that they are warmer in cold weather. Not very s&b but I think they are still a classic look with skinny jeans and skirts.

I'm going to try just ankle boots this year. I've bought some with a small heel though as I thought they looked nicer with dresses etc.

But I usually have just flat boots and I'm wondering if I'll miss having a flat pair too.

Tied myself up in knots about it yesterday and got annoyed with myself Confused.

Then of course there are shoe boots too...

I have some 4 year old calf length DM boots (think they are called Becca if they still do them) , sort of like western style boots. They go with loads and have an aged look to them so still look as new! They weirdly go with loads....make things that would otherwise seem too dressy and formal look cool. Can't explain it but they are brilliant. Look great with above knee skirts and dresses and skinny black trousers.
