Handbag advice - present for MIL's 80th!

Hi, she's quite a "young" 80 - independent and reasonably active. She gets roped in for lots of babysitting duty and given it's such a big birthday would like to treat her to a nice handbag as her staple has definitely seen better days. Budget flexible but max £400. She is always complimenting my Marc Jacob bag and really likes the colour but thinks it's too small:

So far all I've come up with is this (and it's over budget!):

www.selfridges.com/GB/en/cat/chloe-marcie-cross-body-satchel_221-3001525-3P0580161/?previewAttribute=Motty+grey

Any ideas/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Have you looked on the Matches site? They have a See by Chloe bag within budget in a similar colour. Though I'd say the Mansur Gavriel bucket bags are nicer (all seem sold out but I'm sure available elsewhere).

I was going to say see by Chloe too. They usually do those soft cross body bags quite well and are more reasonable.

If it can wait til mid November, Selfridges and John Lewis had 25% off of all of their bags including Mulberry last black friday.

Gruach · 10/10/2015 18:44

This is rather nice.

Thanks for See by Chloe suggestions. I really like this one but never heard of website? Any good? It seems a bit too reasonable as on VeryExclusive.co.uk (also never heard of!) for £370..

Thanks Grausch - I like that (for me!) but think a tote might be too big for her.

Must definitely check the date with DH as would be great if I could hang on till Black Friday! Totally forgot about that!

If you are near Bicester, Fendi have come up trumps for my mum! I rather covet her current bag, in mauve leather, cross body style!

cressetmama · 10/10/2015 20:14

Village England is also worth a peek!

StatisticallyChallenged · 11/10/2015 08:00

The outnet have lots of choice, quite a few Marc Jacobs within budget too

lavendersun · 11/10/2015 08:02

I have been buying my bags from Tusting forever. Love them, UK firm who use lovely leathers.

The only cross body thing they have is this

I have got a 10% discount code that expires tonight, if you are interested PM me.
