Leather trousers - the rules of wearing them?

I'm after common opinion. I've recently had delivered a couple of pairs of "leather" trousers for a upcoming event. Dh slapped my arse when i had them on but I'm not sure they are appropriate. I'm mid 30's and "overweight". I'm a pear shape so my bum / thighs are probably my worst feature. I was planning to wear them with a blouse for this kind of look. Am I an idiot for even contemplating wearing them? these are the trousers in question.

I don't think size matters too much and if you like them, wear them, but don't wear them if you don't feel confident in them, or if they don't make you feel good.

I am put off them because where I live, they seem to be the go to 'going out' outfit of well preserved and ladies of a certain age (which you are a good 10-15 years off - I am that age, but not particularly well-preserved).

Lambzig it is 'loose women chic'

No surprise that the Daily Mail managed to take an unflattering picture of a woman so they can post a picture of it on their website Shock!

ok, I may try them later and post a pic - although am slightly worried now I'll get lots of "you're much fatter than Kimberly" type comments so please be nice (but honest)

How sad that the Google search brings up Kimberly . She has a lovely womanly figure ! ... I am short and size 10 with big thighs but I have curves in the right places , I might get some . I think they look nice !

Snorting at loose women chic. That nails it exactly.

I ordered these. Have you got them yet? I found them to be quite a bad fit with wrinkly baggy knees and low crotch. I do have quite strange shaped legs though. I Sent them back and am desperately hunting for another pair. And I was planning to wear mine with either an oversized jumper or baggy top to cover the tummy area.

I cant vouch for real leather but walk away from pleather.

Sweat sweat sweat....horrible.
Not comfortable in the slightest, even in cold weather!
As for look, i wouldnt wear that look tbh. I do like it with a longer top and boots though.

the plastic trousers in your link look ghastly on the model - they don't fit and they give her saddlebags even though she is very slim. I can just hear the squeak-squeak as she walks, too.

the legs are different lengths (trousers, not model) so they are really badly made too.

leather trousers - maybe. Those - no.
