Please help me find nice, cheap, practical work clothes

I have just had a promotion at work and will be going from wearing a uniform (black trousers and shirt) to wearing more of a business causal look.

Trousers and good work shoes I am fine with I just can't find any nice cheap shirts/blouses on the high street.

They really do need to be on the cheaper more practical side as my job is pub restaurant managing. So lots lots of hot sweaty running around, stains from food, beer and cleaning products. I can't wear black shirts because it won't distinguished me from uniformed staff and white because likely to be grubby quickly

Try H&M - they do these great 3/4 length sleeve casual looking blouses with a few buttons down the middle in lots of different colours/patterns for £7.99.

Sometimes they're cotton, sometimes polyester so if you're tunning around getting hot look for the ones with more cotton.

I team them with black jersey skirt (also H&M) and pumps or wedge heels for smart/casual comfy outfit

That's a very reasonable price. There is and H&M in the next town over, I will go take a look. Thank you Smile I just loath spending on really nice clothes I know are only going to get spoilt and need replacing

The joy of ebay?

CupboardOfBacon · 06/10/2015 22:37

I may have to embrace they joy of internet shopping, its just the sizes that bother me as they are so inconsistent I feel I need to try clothes on first!

Boden clearance here esp patterns, to hide marks, and look for natural fabrics.

Matalan do nice tops for work, cheap, last surprisingly well and although I wouldn't keep for best they can be very nice.

Try m&s. .. shirts start at £12, possibly more reliable quality

Sainsbury! !

Helenluvsrob · 07/10/2015 10:40

sainsburys here too!

H&M and Dorothy Perkins. I also really like their cardigan, so you could also try plainer vests with a cardigan over the top.

Once you've found your size in a shop it's easier as you can do some eBay bargain hunting too.
