what should I buy

I'm lucky enough to be going on a shopping spree on Friday. Any tips for what I should buy to update my wardrobe for the autumn winter? I'm going to be48 next week, size 14, tallish, red hair, pale. Need to be smartish for work but not suit smart.
Shops I like are Jigsaw, H and M for some things. I like the idea of AllSaints but when it comes to it tend to shy away.

What do you need? There seems to be a lot of dark green around - maybe a dark green jersey blazer would be nice with your hair?

I recently bought Gap culottes, I love them. I'm thinking of getting a second pair because I don't think I'll take them off all winter.

What about some cashmere? I bought a jumper last year and I couldn't believe how soft and warm it was.

In all saints, I think you have to go in and try on the clothes. I have a top which looks lovely on me (and my curves) but looks like a sackcloth on the model.

KV - How do you plan to wear the culottes? Won't your legs be cold? I like the look of the Gap ones but am a shortarse, so can only wear narrow ones. I miss city shorts!

Oh coming on to ask exactly what Remus asked. What's on your feet and legs?? I fancy culottes. I wore them first time round. Swore I would never wear them again. And here I am. Fashion is fickle folks, fashion is fickle.

It's been OK weather here the last few days so I have gone for bare legs and ballet flats. I wore them with a pair of very plain black heels to a party last night. I think I'll risk thrush and wear them with heavy tights and shoe boots (I hate the Chelsea/ankle boots look) or with my flat knee high black riding boots. I'm searching for a pair of tan stack heel leather boots that aren't buckled and spangled up the wazoo, but they are elusive. Remus, I'm only 5ft2 and they are OK on me, maybe because of the high waist.

Aha! Tights and shoe boots. Tights! Am not in winter mode yet. Must have a look at Gap. Thanks.

Tights and heeled ankle boots sounds good. I might try them on - am 5'2 too.

Oh, and brogues. I forgot I have a pair of grey brogues that should work with grey tights. Remus the culottes are midi length on me, so definitely worth a try.
