Perfume for a teenager

mamabluestar · 03/10/2015 16:15

I'm thinking about buying my niece some perfume as a gift, spending no more than £20, but I'm not sure what is in vogue.

I've seen some Lipsy and Beyonce perfumes that are within price range, but online so I can't try them before I buy - I dont know if I should take a chance based on the reviews or look along the lines of a nice Next/Ted Baker/Soap and Glory Set. Any other suggestions would be gratefully received.

Why not go to the perfume shop and smell some in there?

Marc Jacobs Daisy is one that my DD likes.

WhyDoesGastonBark · 03/10/2015 17:43

Sorry I sounded rude, I meant sniff the ones you have seen for a good price!

dingit · 03/10/2015 17:49

Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Accessorize. Marc Jacobs is ££££

vintagenurse · 03/10/2015 17:52

The Katy Perry ones are nice and they are reasonably priced. I even like them!

sky1010 · 03/10/2015 17:56

Ralph Lauren Polo in the blue bottle is nice. I wore it when I was 13/14, it's nice and fresh, not too expensive.

I'd steer away from the sleb perfumes, too much room for error.

sky1010 · 03/10/2015 17:58

Sorry, got confused. It's just called Ralph.

I just bought a Jack Wills body mist set of 3 fragrances to put away for 13 year old DD for Xmas. It's in the 3 for 2 gifts offer at Boots at the moment too.

WaxyBean · 03/10/2015 18:12

Ghost Girl is nice and teenager-ish.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 03/10/2015 18:15

Have a look in places like b&m and morrisons, have a sniff in the big shops first. Some excellent big brand names there.Dd is a Chloe fan-I got two bottles for 18 quid each.

madmotherof2 · 03/10/2015 18:17

I was going to suggest one of the ghost ones

Branleuse · 03/10/2015 18:33

Lush - vanillary

Carpaccio · 03/10/2015 19:02

I would go for this one: www.feelunique.com/p/Paul-Smith-Rose-Eau-De-Parfum-Spray-100ml

Cocolepew · 03/10/2015 19:34

DD bought the Jack Wills set for her friends birthday, she said they smelt lovely.
DD is 18 and wears Bohemia from Marks and Spencer. I can smell it on her all day without her having to respray, its £12.

MrsCocoa · 03/10/2015 21:24

This would be lovely way to let try several quality fragrances. Could generate ideas for future birthdays and Xmases?

Bananajam · 03/10/2015 21:28

DD liked the Harajuku Gwen Stefani perfumes, they are very reasonably priced and smell lovely, plus the bottles are quite collectable.

dementedma · 03/10/2015 21:29

Marc Jacobs Daisy is lovely but expensive.

mamabluestar · 04/10/2015 11:02

WhyDoesGastonBark dont worry it was sensible advice, I was trying not to say that my taste is probably classed as old

Thanks everyone, loads of ideas for me to look at SmileFlowers
