Warm boots - Barbour?

Are they any good? Are they warm, dry and comfortable? I get so cold in the winter, so this year I'm investing in some snug bits and pieces.

I like both of these Gixer and kickstart, what do you think?

Or would other brands be better for keeping toasty?

I've just bought Sorel Tofino boots in black. Very toasty and waterproof!

You want Sorel boots for winter.

I've got the Gixer boots. They are excellent.

They look good and should be very sturdy as they are Barbour, but neither are properly waterproof, the fur lining is synthetic not shearling and only one is fully fur lined, the other is just trimmed. If any of that bothers you.

For a similar price and for boots that can be worn as every day boots, also look at Ugg (Gershin for example) and Timberland.

Sorel are fantastic, and I can attest to the Tofino being incredibly warm and dry, but they are practical snow and hard weather boots. Not something I'd want to wear as an everyday cold weather boot. They're not pretty.

I think the Tofino look good, what with the quilting, fur and lacing. Not too clumpy either. But II guess it depends on your overall style.

Sorel seem to be very fashionable this a/w season, net a porter, mytheresa and matches all have them in, so they are trendy too.
I think they are pretty cool, i have the Caribou and pac ones though.

Madbengalmum · 03/10/2015 14:51

The barbour ones arent going to be waterproof either, if you want that style try ugg.

Thanks everyone, this is really helpful. I do like some of the Sorel ones and they seem more practical, so I will think about those, and will check out the Uggs too.
