How to choose an acid toner?

Someone suggested on another thread that I might want to try a salicylic acid toner. Sounds in principle a good idea, but there are just too many of the things out there! I have combination skin, oil slick on nose, forehead and chin, normal on cheeks. I'm spot prone and also have scars and red marks from old spots (I'm a catch, me). I mainly use LaRoche Posay skin stuff, with rosehip oil on my cheeks at night.

I am told an acid toner will help- which one do people recommend? And do I in fact want salicylic acid or some other kind of acid?

I like the green bottle of Vichy normaderm liquid as it contains salicylic and glycolic -I use this twice a week and occasionally the nip and fab glycolic pads
I think the craze for acids is too much as they can be drying and mean more SPF needs to be worn, which in turn, clogs skin so more acid needs to be used.......anyway I think they are all much of a muchness.

Yes, I'm worried about more SPF because I don't get on with sunscreen at all - except in high summer I just wear a moisturiser with an SPF.

Me too I hate the stuff
A couple of times a week of acid for me plus UK weather and low SPF has been ok for me. But I do wear highlighter and a touch of powder and concealer - not much of any of it but I think it provides a slight protection. I wouldn't rely on this or my "advice" though!!

Paula's Choice is your best bet for Salycilic and it sounds like that is the right choice for you. I use the 2% lotion twice a week overnight and it really balances my skin and declogs pores. It's not a toner, more like a cream consistency but that suits my skin better.

I use the Bravura 2% salycilic acid but it says use for between 2-10 mins then neutralize by washing off with water.I have not heard of leaving it on overnight ??
