Original price is 1023GBP?

This is the Acne Maple Leather Jacket.

I already have a BLK DNM Leather Jacket 1, btw.

Only if I could try it on first.

PurpleDaisies · 02/10/2015 00:30

Are you thinking of buying one? Or selling one?

mayum1 · 02/10/2015 00:31

Buying one.

Can't try it on first as the seller is too far.

PurpleDaisies · 02/10/2015 00:32

I wouldn't but I'm really cautious with eBay and I'd be worried about spending so much money on what could be a fake.

MsBojangles · 02/10/2015 00:42

I've bought one from Vestaire and sold a two on eBay - they were all genuine if that helps at all.

ItGoesWithoutSaying · 02/10/2015 08:47

I don't think I'd buy a new leather jacket for that much, regardless of label! [skinflint emoticon needed.]

FrustratedFrugal · 02/10/2015 08:55

I might consider the shearling one - it is lush, but it is difficult to know about things like creasing and off smells without trying it on. Would prefer Vestiaire because they check authenticity.

I bought a copy of the Acne shearling jacket last year from H&M. Faux leather/fleece obviously but look pretty good, and you can't beat the price - €18!

louloubelle2 · 02/10/2015 09:02

I would. I've never heard of Acne fakes, but make sure there are plenty of pictures of the actual jacket, including the labels if they aren't already on there. A reputable seller will always email you more, and answer your questions if you ask.

If you're unsure of the size, go and try one on if you can, or do a google search for size reviews and other pictures - pinterest is good for this, so you can see it styled with lots of different clothes (even if they are on models and fashion bloggers). I say this as I came close to buying a Whistles biker jacket once, until I realised upon googling that it had oversized shoulders (a la Dynasty almost), and was more cropped than the ebay pictures on the hanger would have led me believe.

mayum1 · 04/10/2015 00:34

It's relisted now. Total would be around 315gbp. However seller has not answered my question about colour of the hardware and I also requested more pics, closer shot.

Bunbaker · 04/10/2015 00:44

You could get a new leather jacket for that price (displays ignorance of designer fashion).

louloubelle2 · 04/10/2015 07:37

Is this a frequent seller with a decent feedback rating or a new seller? I try not to let this influence my decision, but if a new seller pops ups trying to sell a high value item, AND doesn't answer your questions I'd be wary. Remember a bargain is a bargain for a reason.

BumWad · 04/10/2015 07:40

Do people still wear leather jackets Shock

Bunbaker · 04/10/2015 08:29

Of course they do. Why the face?

mayum1 · 04/10/2015 09:36

louloubelle2 Seller has 400 feedback, 100%. I checked, last sold items were over a year ago. Mostly inexpensive items.

I sent two questions, one in the original listing, one in the current. Maybe she's busy.

Larastheme · 04/10/2015 15:02

It sounds too good to be true, does it state if its new Or used,? most sellers now days want to make big profits even with worn items, so I would say that an acne jacket would be at least £380 even if worn and in very good condition, and is the total £315 with shipping? That's a lot , save
a bit more and you could get a decent new one in sales,

frustated be aware of vestiaire , their authenticators are absloutely clueless, just read the horror stories on sites like the pursefourm, lots and lots of fakes have been sold through them, clothes that are in absolute bad shape, the site has no liability nor does it protect the buyer/seller, its just a middle ground, ebay might be full of fakes too, but latest they act when an item has been proven to be fake,

Madbengalmum · 04/10/2015 15:05

Ebay has fakes, but it also has genuine items, leather jackets are not highly faked items. Handbags, yes, but leather jackets, no.
If it is what you want op then go for it.
If the jacket is used then the price seems about right, as leather jackets dont seem to make alot of money on ebay anyway

mayum1 · 04/10/2015 21:23

Madbengalmum - yes, the item is preowned. Waiting for the reply on the colour of the hardware. I don't like gold on black.

That looks well worn, unless it is pre-distressed. Ask for a close up of the label it looks really grubby. Or that may be the quality of the photo. What does she list the condition as?

BigGreenOlives · 04/10/2015 22:44

I just looked on the Farfetch website & it describes the jacket as being smooth leather. That one looks really well worn compared with the pictures of new Mape jackets. Do you have any recourse if the lining is stained, smelly or torn?

Larastheme · 04/10/2015 22:47

leather looks faded, and well worn, I've seen them in real life and the mock jackets are smooth almost shiny leather nothing like what is in that picture, And the label tag is supposed to be white, it looks discoloured here,

mayum1 · 04/10/2015 23:10

Yeah, I actually don't like that the label seems so murky/stained.

I asked for closer shots of the picture, but no response yet.

Description says "Excellent gently used condition."

TheCraicDealer · 04/10/2015 23:23

I would not be paying £300+ for a jacket that has fake tan on the label, no matter the brand. Indicates it's not been well looked after or dry cleaned.

For similar money you could get a very similar brand spank All Saints one; I have one which I paid around £250 for six years ago, regular wear (and a visit to the dry cleaners!) and it's still in great nick. I never fail to get compliments about it when I wear it. Well, apart from that one person who dared to ask me, "Ooooh, is that from Per Una?". I near had her eyes out.

mayum1 · 04/10/2015 23:40

The seller ended the listing due to error in listing.

I guess it wasn't meant to be. :)

Behooven · 04/10/2015 23:44

I find Per Una leather jackets are very similar to All Saints.
