Cloud 9 or GHDs?

beaverbill · 01/10/2015 20:28

My GHDs died this morning, cue much drama and crying! I need some more so that I am able to face the public without the need for a hat!
I've heard the newer GHDs aren't as good but that cloud 9 are the bees knees! Are they?
Any advice oh wise ones??

Cloud 9. Unless you can get hold off original ghds like made years ago. The newer ones are awful

Maladicta · 01/10/2015 21:58

I love the temp adjustment on my Cloud 9s

Queenbean · 01/10/2015 22:00

Coriolis straighteners are incredible

Cheekybiscuit · 01/10/2015 22:03

Cloud 9 straighteners are great. I love mine.

GrinAndTonic · 01/10/2015 22:10

Cloud 9's are fantastic. I finally got rid of my original ghd's (after 9 years) and would not buy another ghd as the newer ones are crap.

Palomb · 01/10/2015 22:12

I had my last pair of GHDs for since they were released which must have been 8 or 9 years at least. I replaced them with new GHDs and they are great.

beaverbill · 01/10/2015 22:23

I've never heard of that make Queen, I'll investigate.
I think I'm swaying towards the cloud 9s, but I've been loyal to GHDs for so long! Either way, I need to be able to emerge in daylight soon!

I sent some very old GHDs back for repair after a friend recommended it a few years ago and got a new set for free. Worth trying that while you weigh up your options?

beaverbill · 01/10/2015 23:05

Thanks Sansfards, that is a good idea. I'll investigate that tomorrow morning!

My hairdresser told me that Cloud 9s were from the original creators of GHDs, not sure of the truth though...

beaverbill · 02/10/2015 07:11

Grim, my hairdresser said the same, must be right then??

OP posts:
GrinAndTonic · 02/10/2015 07:15

Grim mine said the same. If three people hear it then it's true.

PrimalLass · 02/10/2015 10:13

Don't get GHD IVs - I've had two pairs and they are awful. Don't get the Cloud 9s that go on when you pick them up - they stop working (the others are fine).

I bought these instead and they are fine:

ChessieFL · 02/10/2015 10:15

My hairdresser also said that cloud 9s made by original GHD people!

Lovethebubbles · 02/10/2015 10:17

How did you do that sandsfards? Who did you send them to? Mine are on the blink and would prefer to get repaired if possible.

LittleMiss77 · 02/10/2015 11:43

I also heard that the creator of cloud9 was originally the creator of GHDs.

Apparently GHD was sold and the main man didnt like the changes being made to the products, so he started Cloud9

Getuhda348 · 02/10/2015 14:23

I thought they were sister company's so they must have have some connection. Yey can still be loyal Grin

beaverbill · 03/10/2015 13:38

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to take the plunge with the cloud nine!

Fluffyears · 03/10/2015 19:04

Cloud 9's are made by the people who founded GHD which has now been sold and is not as good. I have naturally poker straight hair but run straighteners over it to give it a shine and use then to give me hair some volume.

Fliss77 · 25/10/2015 15:34

Would the Cloud 9 mini straighteners work on thick wiry hair?
