Winter coat for 14 year old dd

Dd needs a new winter coat for school that would also do for weekends.

She had a black padded coat from Gap childrenwear, was age 13 I think, much too small now. She's about 5'1" and a size 8/10.

She wants it a bit shorter than her old one (was thigh length) and not too bulky. Any ideas?

Before anyone says anything about teens not wearing coats, she does, she doesn't like to be cold!

My DD is 13yo
Last year I got her a navy parka (Matalan) that she wore out and about and to school. (This years are a bit shiney though)

DD bought a black parka this year (Select) , she paid because she didn't actually need it.

She's got a black Superdy that's IIRC 2 winters old, she still gets lots of wear from .(It's not the lined one, sort of mesh inside)

Mine have lighter weight ones as they can wear their blazer underneath (size up) and it is easier to cart around the school. Both Trespass versions at the moment. It rains all the time here so waterproof is the most important thing. Also I don't buy dark colours as they walk home in the dark.

Superdry windcheater that she leaves at home and claims her thin cardigan is warm enough, then arrives home wearing a hoodie she borrowed from one of the boys, who also left his coat at home, and who probably tells his Mum that it was too hot for a hoodie.

Think it needs to be warmer than raincoat weight, they don't wear blazers at her school.

We are didriksons fans here - DD has got this for this winter - serious winter coats, warm and properly waterproof

I just bought www.zara.com/uk/en/kids/girl-%7C-4-14-years/coats/quilted/quilted-coat-with-faux-fur-hood-c675503p2815611.html for my DD. Depends how big she is as it only goes to age 14

Dancergirl · 30/09/2015 21:20

Viking one is too long and she is really out of children's sizes now, I know Zara come up small. She'll need a ladies size 8/10.

Dancer - Didriksons large child sizes fit small adults (who buy them for cheapness) - obvs link not for you but I know a few small adults your dd's size who buy the 170cm size, my ever shrinking 5ft 2" mother has one Shock.
