Wear what with this dress to wedding?

Kazzawazzawo0 · 28/09/2015 16:26

I've got this dress for a wedding in October. I know I need to lose a little weight, I'm on track for that.

But I'm unsure what to wear with it. I have no money, so may have to look on eBay for something. Can someone give me some suggestions?

All I have is a white wrap cardigan. I know I need dark blue shoes, I have a dark blue small bag, but I'm unsure about whether I need a jacket and what sort.

TIA.

The picture doesn't seem to have uploaded!

Link / pics / description of the dress?

If it has white in the pattern I think your wrap cardigan would probably be fine. Otherwise Amazon have pashminas in all sorts of colours which are reasonably priced. If it is coolish I doubt you'd be outside for long.

Sorry I forgot the picture of the dress!

It's a Phase Eight dress. The wrap is a very simple white cropped/tie cardigan from Joe Brown, nothing fancy.

The dress is navy and white.

I like it! I'd go for red or hot pink accessories rather than matching. Lime green or mustard are nice too but trickier for shoes.

OnlyLovers · 28/09/2015 17:57

The cardigan would be OK but a bit dull, sorry.

I'd go for a sharper look with a jacket, and in a clashing colour not matching: lime green, as suggested above, is good. Or deep pink.

cashewnutty · 28/09/2015 18:02

I have a very similar dress from Phase Eight. I wore it with navy shoes and bag and a white cotton fitted jacket. I have worn that combo to a graduation, a wedding and a ladies lunch.

MairzyDoats · 28/09/2015 22:18

I'd say a red jacket actually. Maybe a swing jacket if you can find one? Your dress has got that vintage vibe...

Kazzawazzawo0 · 28/09/2015 23:03

I like the clashing suggestions. Would anyone fancy linking to some jackets on eBay in size 14? Wink

I'm not keen on bright pink or lime green, but red or a bright green would be possible.

Ideally a jacket that would help create the illusion of more waist than I actually have?

Red and navy is a bit trolley-dolly, IMO. If you don't want to go clashing, maybe a more neutral colour, like a taupe/sand?

CakeForBreakfast · 29/09/2015 13:37

wow. Dress looks fantastic on you btw.

Very va va voom!

(Sorry - no style advice)

FauxFox · 29/09/2015 15:04

turquoise £14
pink £18 (also comes in navy)
cream £22
purple £29

Thanks for the links. I'll check them out now.

CakeForBreakfast, thank you! Smile I think I need to lose another 7 lbs for it to fit nicely, but hopefully will get there by the end of October.

Thank you! Smile Blush I just wanted to lose the bit of a spare tyre ...

kazza if you have a spare tyre, that dress is nothing short of miraculous!! It looks great on you Smile

Gorgeous dress and you look fab! What diet are you on, I wanna join!

Kazzawazzawo0 · 30/09/2015 20:30

Thank you Diamondo Grin

I eat generally low carb, it seems to work for me. I still weigh 11 stone 9.5 lbs though, at 5 foot 7. My face is a bit round still and I have a bit of a spare tyre that I really have to suck in, I'll be wearing my M&S magic knickers!

I'm struggling to find a jacket. I can't really stretch to that Quiz one, although I love it, so have been looking on eBay, but can't find anything I like.

Kazzawazzawo0 · 30/09/2015 23:41

I'm delighted - I just find the berry coloured cropped jacket on the Quiz website with £5 off and found a voucher for free delivery, so ordered it for £12.99 Grin

Many thanks again for the suggestions. Now to find navy shoes ..
