Sali, if you are, I love your bathroom beauty videos, particularly

Is it me? She doesn't come across as if she knows that much Hmm
What a strange interview. Tbh, i'm not loving it.

DoYouRememberMe · 28/09/2015 16:07

Green I completely agree. She's very unlikable TBH. She's not very natural in front of the camera at all. I couldn't watch much of that video- she's so awkward.

DoYouRememberMe · 28/09/2015 16:08

Marian Keyes is ace though Grin

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 28/09/2015 16:12

Its like she didnt know where the camera was.

DiamondoInTheSky · 28/09/2015 16:19

Sali just looks bored here.

And her book is the only Kindle book I have ever sent back to Amazon for a refund. It promised something new - it was stuff I'd already learned by 16.

ImperialBlether · 28/09/2015 16:26

I didn't think she looked bored at all! I've seen a few of those bathroom videos and really like her enthusiasm for make up.

I used to love Sali. I really enjoyed some of her "in the bathroom" videos to begin with, but too many of them now are nothing but the subject trying to promote their product. The video with Charlotte Tilbury was shocking for this.
Diamond - I also sent her book back to amazon. I ordered the hardcover version and was so disappointed. It seemed cheap in quality, very few pictures and the content was substandard. It was like reading tips from a Jackie annual in the 70/80s. Smile
I also have to admit that Sali has a habit of sniffing all the time throughout her videos which is very annoying.
I have to admit I'd also love to give her a makeover. She wears black nearly all the time and I think it just drains the life out of her. She looks lovely in colour the few times I've seen her wear something different.

Greengardenpixie · 28/09/2015 16:48

Marian Keyes [ who ever the hell she is??] Looks completely full of herself. No time for that type.

Greengardenpixie · 28/09/2015 16:50

Oh sorry, shows how much i know. The other one...Is it sali, she is so full of herself. Marianne keyes acts like she doesnt know anything. Its awful.

MistressMerryWeather · 28/09/2015 16:52

Yes, I once told her to stop whining on a thread about India Knight and got deleted and told off by Justine. Blush

Housewife2010 · 28/09/2015 17:10

I like watching her but agree that she can be annoying at times. The Caitlyn Moran interview is a good one. I felt she butted in a bit with Jane Cunningham.

YesICanHearYouClemFandango · 28/09/2015 17:11

I like her very much too. I trust her recommendations. I also read something by her recently about the effects of being bullied at school, which really resonated with me.

Liomsa · 28/09/2015 17:15

Do the photos accompanying SH's Guardian column depict her wearing whatever makeup she is discussing? Because I read it, think, 'Sounds interesting' and am then confronted with a photo entirely indistinguishable from all previous weeks, if we are to suppose she is wearing the world's best red lipstick or eyeliner.

ImperialBlether · 28/09/2015 17:39

"Yes, I once told her to stop whining on a thread about India Knight and got deleted and told off by Justine."

I think she's a great friend of India Knight's. What was she saying on the thread?

Marianne keyes acts like she doesnt know anything

About what?

OP posts:
MistressMerryWeather · 28/09/2015 18:27

There was a thread started about Knight being a disablist arsehole on twitter and Sali joined MN to tell everyone on the thread they were horrible mean bullies.

It was very cringe worthy because she wouldn't actually acknowledge anything her dear old friend had said and just erm... Kept whining. :o

bialystockandbloom · 28/09/2015 18:45

Oh mistress I remember that, was funny! Poor celebs, they never win on a MN thread!

MsBojangles · 28/09/2015 19:03

The snooty sniffy and stilted delivery are annoying. She's also dreadful at maintaining eye contact with whomever she's interviewing which makes her appear cold and disinterested.

I'm sure she's a lovely woman though Blush

I'm not a fan. Her Guardian articles are basically 'here's a topic and here are all the new expensive products you can buy to address it' and not evidence based at all. Her recent rosacea one really cheesed me off as it said avoid exfoliation - fine - but then went on to say only use a mild aha a couple of times a week. Well a bha will actively help rosacea. So her fan girls with rosacea will be avoiding bha thinking it's too harsh. She even admitted in the article she didn't really have a clue about rosacea and clearly hadn't done any research.

Lizawithaz · 28/09/2015 20:14

I've met her in real life and she was lovely. Very warm and friendly.

KimSlazinger · 28/09/2015 20:30

Oh Marian Keyes is lovely! And so funny.
Ok I haven't watched above video, but in general..

I like SH's writing usually, but I wasn't enthralled with the book - I enjoyed the way it was written but didn't feel like it told me anything new. Her columns in The Pool, Grazia and Red are often very good.

WaggleBee · 29/09/2015 03:11

Honestly thought it was just me who didn't think much of her book. It got rave reviews and people were falling over themselves to say how wonderful it was but I didn't learn anything new at all. It looks nice on the shelf but that's about it.

Marian Keyes is one of the loveliest people on Earth.
