Opinions on this locket please

I am contemplating having a locket made to store a pic of my two DCs. I want it to be something special and aft selling some of my things and going through a sh£tty time I'm contemplating organising a jeweller to make one for me. I want something unique but also classic that won't date. It's made from 18k gold and diamonds.
This picture is what I'm planning to go for. Any opinions much appreciated as it isn't going to be cheap so I don't want to make a huge financial mistake (I've never had anything made before and also want a second opinion or two ;) )

Opinions on this locket please

looks a bit pagan

Nanodust · 27/09/2015 21:07

Ha ha, that made me laugh. I'm not Pagan. I quite like that it might though Hmm

I really like it.

Greengardenpixie · 27/09/2015 21:11

I like it too. Very vintage looking :)

ginmakesitallok · 27/09/2015 21:12

Jewellery is such a personal thing though. I don't like it, not my taste at all. But if YOU love it, get it. It's for you, not for anyone else.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/09/2015 21:13

I'm not loving it tbh, sorry. It looks like the sort of thing you'd buy in Glastonbury for £30, but I suspect it costs a great deal more than that.

NotTodaySatan · 27/09/2015 21:13

I really love it.

It looks old and heirloomy and like it could be worn by Cersei Lannister or Yvaine from Stardust.

IsItMeOr · 27/09/2015 21:16

It's okay, and of course, a matter of personal preferences.

When I read your description, I pictured something more Victorian

Nanodust · 27/09/2015 21:31

That's funny isitmeor, that was my first design. However there are a lot like at about and after seeing that design in Astley Clarke, I thought I'd go for something a bit more original.
Thanks for positive and honest comments. I like that it could have something slightly medieval/mystical looking about it. Probably my waste youth watching films like 'The Craft' to blame for that. I as like that it isn't something I've seen a lot elsewhere.

I quite like it but you could easily get a locket like this at an auction rather than getting one made- would be much cheaper. Have a look on eBay. I bought some smacking old earrings from it last week for a bargain price so it still can be done!

Nanodust · 27/09/2015 21:35

I've been keeping my eyes on the local auction, but I haven't seen anything like it for under 1k. I am also a bit nervous about EBay, should it be fake etc.
However an original old one like that would be amazing!

I love it!

MairzyDoats · 27/09/2015 22:55

I'd question whether it will go with the rest of your wardrobe... Presumably you'd want to wear it a lot, is it compatible? It wouldn't go with a lot of mine...

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 27/09/2015 22:59

I kinda like it. It's different.

As for 'does it go with the rest of your wardrobe?' seriously?! Are there really women out there who consider whether a special piece of jewellery matches their clothes? Most fine jewellery does not match clothes, it is not just an accessory to tart up an outfit! They stand alone. The mind boggles.

steppemum · 27/09/2015 23:03

I love it, but I know from experience that I never wear anything gold coloured, I like them, but never actually put them on. I am more of a silver person.

I only say this to say, do you usually wear gold or silver, or both?

Nanodust · 28/09/2015 06:38

I usually wear gold, silver in the past but in recent years gold seems better for my colouring. Thanks for all your posts. X

Have you looked at Astley Clarke?

www.astleyclarke.com/uk/necklaces/lockets

I bought my mum one last year and she loves it.

Nanodust · 28/09/2015 13:35

Yes, I originally though about an Astley Clarke one, but for the same price as rose gold one) I can have this one made so thought it would be more unique.
