My Barbour has really really clammy arms.....

I think if it weren't for that I'd quite like it as a jacket. I bought one in the sale so it wasn't too pricey, extra long style so it covers my bum, and its nice and roomy and forgiving in the waist. AND its got a hood. Perfect for showery Autumn days I thought. I was really happy with it at first - thought I'd have it for years and years and years.

Except I take it off and the arms of whatever top i'm wearing are saturated. Horribly clammy and damp. There are wee air holes underneath each armpit but no way does that make it breathable in any way.

The body of the coat isn't too bad, but maybe thats just cos its flappier.

Is there anything that can be done to improve it??

Cut more holes? Grin

Are they wet because the rain is getting through or because you sweat so much?

MrsMummyPig · 27/09/2015 17:03

Which jacket is it? I have a silkoil 'kate' and a quilted 'international' and haven't had this problem.

FelixFelix · 27/09/2015 17:18

What jacket is it? Maybe try asking Barbour customer services for advice. I've found them very good when I've asked them random questions.

Annarose2014 · 27/09/2015 19:17

verenti It happens even when it's dry so it's definitely my arm sweat Grin

But I'm not actually that much of a sweaty mare so it's flipping annoying.

It's more like when you wear a rubber coat. It's a bit much for something expensive!

I tried to open up the air holes a bit but it made no difference.

It's the Durham (I think). Basically like the Beadnell but longer.

I had a perfect barbour, wore it to death for 5 years, replaced it last year and it looks good and is waterproof but the arms are SWEATY! It's bloody 100% acetate lining (nasty).

Shall we start a protest group?

MrsMummyPig · 27/09/2015 20:16

think we ought to baby
You don't expect that for the price, not exactly cheap are they?

BabyGanoush · 27/09/2015 22:50

They were a bloody "investment buy"!

Maybe I'll have the arm lining changed one day

Annarose2014 · 28/09/2015 00:12

Dunno if that'd work as I suspect its the waxed outer thats to blame. They're just not breathable. All the condensation is kept in.

They don't put that in the ads!
