For fans of Clark's Hamble Oak brogues

If you fancy some different colours to those Clark's are offering this year, Marks and Spencer have some similar at a similar price. I've just got the navy and there is also a mushroomy beige colour. They seem to be similar quality to the Clark's and maybe a little larger fitting.

I really wanted some navy brogues this winter and could only find Grenson that fitted, convinced myself that £200 wasn't that much for a pair of shoes, then gutted when they sold out in my size. Seasalt have some, but their biggest size is too small for me. Was delighted to come across the M&S ones online when I was looking for something else.

I have the navy ones in leather and suede. They do come up big - so much so that as a size 9 I can comfortably fit the 8s.

I have bought a couple of pairs of Dune loafers this year. They seem to have some nice brogues.

I was nearly tempted by these last week but I bought navy loafers because despite the mnet jury I am going to wear them with a dress I bought last month.

Not sure how durable Dune shoes are in the longer term because I have only had them for a couple of months but they seem well made.

They seem to be selling well because they were all in stock last week. There are some nice options at JL, you can see them all by selecting loafers and brogues.

My feet are too big for Dune. My feet are too big forvavkit of high street shops, which is why I get excited about M&S and Clark's. Good job I don't want to be cutting edge!

I love brogues, but struggle with styling them with cold weather outfits.

lavendersun · 27/09/2015 11:14

Not sure I am qualified to advise on how to wear them Petal. I wear them in the same way as I did 20 years ago, tweed skirt (just above the knee) and thick coloured tights. Probably on the wrong side of the very fine line between slightly preppy and frumpy but I have never been one to care Grin.

I've got 3 pairs of Dune brogues. They suit me better than Hamble Oaks (I've got a nude pair) because they aren't as clumpy. One pair's very similar to the navy pair linked, but they were £20 in asos sale. They last really well. 2 pairs are going into their 3rd Winter.

I love hamble oaks! I have a pair in oxblood and i wear them quite often. I have a pair from w.stuff that are natural leather and equally lovely. Love brogues.

I recenty bought the pewter Hamble Oaks and after an excruciating wreek of breaking them in they are now my favourite shoes ever.

I wear them with tea dresses or mini skirts + polo neck. Wear them with turned up skinnies. They look so cool and are also comfy, a combo I've never had before!

these look like a great budget alternative. I've only ever had positive experiences with New Look shoes.

BikeRunSki · 27/09/2015 12:10

Ooh. Ox blood.

I ordered some WS ones once, but couldn't get my massive hooves in.

The oxblood ones are really more versatile than i ever thought. They go literally with everything.

BikeRunSki · 27/09/2015 13:28

It wouldn't be excessive to have 4 pairs of brogues when I only work 3 days a week would it? Black, navy and pewter. I have been waiting and hoping for Clark's to do silver ones for years. They go with everything too.
