I've had a big birthday a few months & I've noticed a few lines appearing, waist line expanding & generally not feeling as fit/young as I did.

To combat this I've decided that I need to do something now before I slip in to another ten years of not really taking care of myself.

So far I've started;

watching what I eat
Taking vitamins
Getting plenty of sleep
A good skincare routine
I finally dumped all my clothes & bought a new capsule wardrobe. Which was much overdue & has made such a difference.

Please add your ideas! Smile

That all sounds great OP. The best things I've ever done for my skin, figure etc were either free or very cheap and almost none of them are products:

don't smoke
Plenty of sleep
Plenty of water
Plenty of fruit and veg every day, cook from scratch as often as possible
Exercise. I say again - exercise. Brisk walking is fine, something more energetic if you fancy but just do it, and do it a lot
Watch your sugar intake, including booze. Cut right back
Watch your caffeine intake
I take Vitamin D3 pills and Omega 3-6-9 every day
Sunscreen
Double cleansing with a flannel every evening
A serum and moisturiser that suits your skin
Make up, nails, blow dries (if you fancy that sort of stuff - I certainly do Smile)

The biggest for me are:
Sleep.
Not drinking at night
Properly removing make up and sun screen.
Cutting out sugar

Actually everything that Lotta said Grin

On top of this I'd add learning how to best start your day. I'm a lark. I like to go to bed early and wake upearly, do some exercise, throw myself in the shower and then get up and feed the kids. This is always, always followed by a productive day. When I don't get enough sleep I laze in bed, don't get up early, am slow to get us all going and nothing gets achieved. It feels good when I get my morning right.

I don't smoke or drink but did do both in my early twenties & I think that's had an impact on the lines around my mouth Blush

I drink a lot of tea & not enough water. I'll start that next cause that's fairly easy to do.

I am guilty of never using sunscreen except on holiday so I'll look into that next. Also I never ever exercise after two horrific births a few years ago am almost afraid to run!

Lark, I to am an early bird but the energy levels are low at them min, hopefully that should rectify soon.

Anyone else have anything they swear by?

I get my eyebrows shaped (waxed) and tinted once a month.
Teeth, no need for whitening - a professional clean twice a year makes mine look whitened for a few weeks after (may not be the same for everyone).
A bold lipstick Smile
Good, supportive underwear. Go and get measured and invest in a decent bra.
No night time snacking.

RubyGrace17 · 24/09/2015 10:26

I find getting everything ready and sitting my outfit out the night before helps, right down to accessories and shoes. If I don't I tend to put on the 'easy' things that I wear all the time!

Exactly what Lotta said. What I put in my body and exercise makes far more difference than what I put on it.

Single biggest helps for me in having fairly good skin are low sugar/high fat diet, scarcely boozing, and exercise 6 days a week.

LoadsaBlusher · 24/09/2015 11:44

I try to get as much sleep as possible , not always easy with kids and shift work!

No snacking between meals and if I do I have a few walnuts - love them!

I use Superdrug Skin range hot cloth polish and scrub.

I don't really like plain water but drink pints and pints of very diluted squash daily.

I always have my nails painted , no chips and pristine on a daily basis if needed.

Make up daily including a glow highlighter to make me look more " alive".

Very rarely drink alchohol these days , few glasses of wine once in a blue moon , can't handle feeling awful the next day.

No time for classes but I walk loads at work and loads of outdoor physical activities with the kids.
Fresh air daily really makes a difference.
I take iron tablets daily too as I'm not much of a meat eater / leafy green eater.

That's about it I think.

Agree with above poster about having outfits all laid out , I always do this so I feel put together.

A supportive bra which gives a good silhouette makes a world of difference

Varied exercise - include strength training (circuits or weights) at least once a week to build bone density
