Has anyone tried Biotin or Vit b complex supplements?

I have brittle nails that never grow more than a mm without splitting and currently very short hair which I absolutely hate! I have read that Biotin and Vit B complex are beneficial for hair and nails. I doubt i'm clinically deficient in anything as I eat a decent diet, but I do remember my Mum giving the cat Vit B (brewers yeast) tablets when her fur was looking tatty and it really helped .

Not that I want shiny whiskers and a gleaming full tail, but still!

Just wondered if it was worth giving supplements a go or whether I'd be weeing money down the drain!

My skin and hair look tons better when I take a daily dose of good quality fish oil (I use the mega red krill max strength ones) and also a b vitamin complex (I take floradix supplements).

I take high dose B vitamins. They make my pee go bright yellow, and when I ran out a while back my face erupted in a horrendous rash of weird spots which took the next several months to mature into little hard beads which would then be ejected from my suffering skin. I went back on them and haven't dared stop since. Grin

Do it. I've taken hair, skin and nail supplements for years and can't remember the last time I broke a nail. They're like hooves! And my hair grows at a rate of knots (pun intended!).

I took biotin following hair loss after an illness.

my hair grew back - phew - but I suppose it might have done anyway - it started to grow back in about 6 months - a year after the illness.

Can't hurt to try anyway. I didn't notice anything else so stopped taking it after my hair was back to normal. My hair has always grown fast so no change there.

I take vitamin b complex, glucosamine sulphate, iron, omega 3 fish oil and evening primrose oil supplements.

My nails are stronger and less brittle, my circulation has improved and my hair is glossy. I bought them either at the pound shop, Wilkinsons or Morrisons so they didn't cost much. I feel better on them, it's with a try!

I really hope they help (especially hair growth I HATE my short cut ..regret it so much)

The biotin tastes foul btw , the vit B not so bad!
