jeans and footware for cold winter

Ok, I have a problem with finding the right footwear different styles of jeans...

Summer or less cold days I'm fine styling some skinny jeans with ballet flats, trainers, etc, but in winter, I'm really cold in my ankles and need socks! What type of boots do you wear with skinnies? And if I wear brogues, can I wear socks? looks funny...

Same thing for boyfriend jeans.....love to see them with ankle boots but showing a bit of flesh between boot and jeans! What about in really cold days?

Short ankle boots with skinnies work for me. Try Hudson for inspiration.
Brogues and socks sound a little too distracting at the end of a skinny jean.

I stick to ankle boots beacuse I hate having a gap to let in the cold.

What about trying fishnet ankle high sock things? I am a big fan of turned up skinny jeans with Chelsea boots, and swear by this for winter - it works with brogues too.
