Anything but the C-word!

Rose, good idea about Jonno. I wondered what was motivating him. If his partner posted on Relationships, what responses would she get? He is an intriguing character, and I guess you will have to think hard about how physically attractive he should be.

I did very much like the character Mark. With his incompetent sperm. All his words were so genuine.

motherinferior · 29/09/2015 16:55

oh ARSE, Herbs. Wine

motherinferior · 29/09/2015 16:57

Rose, my second draft is definitely more intrigue-heavy.

Rosebag · 29/09/2015 16:59

Rats…bollocks…bum... Herbs …it does beg the question though…what's more important…a strong teacher delivering a strong lesson, or someone who can walk the walk and talk the talk in an interview…. Flowers Wine

Rosebag · 29/09/2015 17:04

All these meals sound really delicious. I don't have the faintest idea what to make for supper tonight. I had meant to pick up sushi at the mall, but forgot…suspect it might be breaded fish and mash. Yawn.

Here's to ever increasingly intriguing plots MI Grin

magimedi · 29/09/2015 17:11

Bummer, Herbs.

Their loss. Wine

herbaceous · 29/09/2015 17:24

Well, indeed Rose. As someone said on my Facebook thread about all this, "schools are so anxious to get people who toe the line and follow procedure, that anything remotely interesting in the interview is verboten. I should have been Miss Jean Brodie in the interview, and John Keating after my first pay cheque."

Collymollypuff · 29/09/2015 17:26

Sorry to hear that, Herbs. Definitely their loss. Thanks

bigTillyMint · 29/09/2015 17:59

Oh that's a shame Herbs. But at least it's interview experienceWine

Blackduck · 29/09/2015 18:12

Bummer Herbs...

hattymattie · 29/09/2015 18:39

Aww - Herbs - I'm so sorry - I still haven't got my interview results - but know my answers were not specific enought to the question given that I rambled on like a madwoman.

Bit sad if we want boring rather than inspirational people with the kids.

Cremo · 29/09/2015 18:43

Och A Plague on their Houses Herbs! Those tick box interviews do my head in. Still, interview experience is never wasted, and the right thing will dander towards you.I know it.
Enjoy the curry and many wines.

Tonight, (after work-exhausted) I am creating fresh pasta ( bought) mixed with a jar of Loyd Grossman and a little cake of local goats cheese that's quietly deflating in the back of the fridge. Not so much a recipe as a cry for help.Grin

Am feeling a bit Tuesday Meh

Cremo · 29/09/2015 18:45

BD are you ok? Feeling any better?ThanksBrew

BeachysFlipFlops · 29/09/2015 19:12

That is a pain Herbs, but the experience is always worth having....I'm loving the recipes on here. Might try the one with peanut butter (as long as you can't taste the peanut butter. Dh thinks it's devil food!)

bigTillyMint · 29/09/2015 20:12

Have just completed Esta applications for me and DD, and updated our flight details. I now need a lie down in a darkened room or a largeWine
Beachy, mine didn't taste too peanutty, but had quite a kick! DD (DS has gone off with his mate to watch a footy match) complained that she wanted macaroni cheese and what were the butterbeans doing in it (looking for an argument because she has shed loads of homework to do) and then ate it all up! DH said it was very nice and would like it againSmile

CointreauVersial · 29/09/2015 21:31

Flowers CV!

Lalsy · 29/09/2015 21:42

Oh CV, how wonderful.

And Herbs, boo. But great that your lesson was strong.

My keyboard is driving me mad. I have a deadline for work that involves a lot of numbers and brackets. Sometimes using a number or bracket means text is deleted. I need a bin to jump on.

Stropperella · 29/09/2015 23:20

I will send you a nice Brabantia, Lalsy. I stockpile them now, you know. Grin

CV, hooray for your ds. Well done him.

Commiserations, Herbs. The right job will come along. (At least this is what I keep telling myself. I am looking forward to my voluntary afternoon of teaching tomorrow and trying not to dwell too much on the "voluntary" bit.)

Here, after another eventful 24 hours, dd actually arrived back early from school, had a nap, then got up and DID 2 HOURS OF HOMEWORK at the dining-room table. This has never happened before. I can honestly say I did not see her doing any homework last year at all at any point. And she is having a bath and going to bed in a sensible manner. As she has been regularly going to bed in her clothes at about 2am (since the spring), this constitutes a massive improvement. I scarcely dare to hope that a bunch of pennies may have dropped. Nah, actually, I shouldn't dare to hope. I will only be very Sad when normal service is resumed tomorrow....
I proffered a fairly major carrot yesterday and, while the initial signs were not promising (she didn't stay here last night), it looks as though she may have decided to enter into the bargain. She has to demonstrate she is doing the right thing and do actual work for the whole of this term (which finishes with mocks) and then I will produce A Big Reward. We shall see. The deal could all be off by the end of the week.

Auriga, what a horrid situation for your dsis to find herself in. I hope she has some good friends living nearby?

Auriga · 29/09/2015 23:31

Good grief, Stropps, what's the carrot? Or is it tantalisingly unspecified?

bigTillyMint · 30/09/2015 06:37

Stropps, I need to know what that carrot is!

DH and I narrowly avoided DD having a melt-down last night as she struggled to get on with an essay and learning stuff for a test. She is not managing her time well at all and is failing to do even the minimum 2 hours a night. Big step up.

magimedi · 30/09/2015 07:09

Would also like to know what carrot is!

Frozen pizza & salad for dinner last night - easy as off today to see PFGD.

See you all in a while.

NUFC69 · 30/09/2015 07:11

Greetings from Cyprus. Sorry about the interview, Herbs - your time will come. Congratulations to DS, CV, and also to Stropps for coming up with (hopefully) a plan for DD. Does DD need some help with time management, BTM, or is she just overwhelmed?

We have had breakfast on the terrace and will adjourn, once again, to the parasol on the beach. In between jumping the waves I am managing many lengths in one pool and circuits of the other, all in an attempt to mitigate the effects of too much food (and wine). We are debating going out of the hotel on a couple of day trips so that we actually see something of Cyprus and don't become those tourists.....

Blackduck · 30/09/2015 07:13

Here full of cold - seems to be doing the rounds. Ds being a sensitive soul and unable to shrug off some of the rubbing that goes on amongst friends - any tips crepeys? I tell him to take himself off if it all gets too much, but it is so like me it presses certain buttons and I am not sure I am objective about it all.

I have a GP appointment but not for two weeks! Will see how I go.

I am also pushing back where I can and trying to put nice stuff in the diary. Talking of which should we try to pencil in a pre Christmas meet up?

bigTillyMint · 30/09/2015 07:19

NU, she is not engaging with the fact that she needs to sort out her time management and independent work ethic - too used to supportive teachers through the GCSEsWink
Your holiday sounds greatEnvy

Good idea BD!
