You have to excuse the serious face & dp's hoodie!

I'm boooooored with my current haircut but don't know what to do with it. I just know I don't fancy a pixie cut.

Any ideas?

I like sharp bobs. I'd probably just go a lighter blonde.

WhataRacquet · 17/09/2015 11:14

dy6g3i6a1660s.cloudfront.net/VpoJ49PKkvr7pXMVUbWD9wLLAfY/lb-e6/oscar-hair-2011-scarlett-johansson.jpg You look like her, think this would suit you

lucysmam · 17/09/2015 11:52

How much lighter Belly?

WhataRacquet, I'll have a google for 'how to' instructions! Think the cut is quite similar to what I have already.

Put a fringe in?

PetiteBateau · 17/09/2015 12:56

Fringe, but I would say that because I love fringes

Bellyrub1980 · 17/09/2015 21:42

This colour maybe?

Maybe go for a choppier style and I second lightning it. Your light shade is nice btw :)

Blodss · 17/09/2015 22:48

Maybe experiment with hair products to get more body at the top and get a bob that's shorter at the back.

lucysmam · 17/09/2015 22:49

Oh! I like that Belly, very much! I have a few greys creeping in, that'd disguise them especially the ONE that's right where I can see it in my parting.

I shall have a look for styles with a fringe and choppier styles on Pinterest tomorrow.

lucysmam · 17/09/2015 22:51

Blodss, any product suggestions?

I've been very low maintenance for years so am a bit clueless, but am slowly re-finding the slightly vain me who enjoys spending hours on myself Grin

pnutter · 17/09/2015 22:54

Well you're gorgeous and I second looking at scarlett johanssen pics as you look like her. A wavy bob would be nice if you can get a curl in your hair. And side fringe.

lucysmam · 17/09/2015 22:59

Aw, thank you pnutter Blush.

I did have a google of Scarlett Johanssen earlier after WhataRaquet said I looked like her. I'm ready for an 'update' so was looking for everyday looks but think Pinterest may be better for that.

My hair is wavy if left to it's own devices, it just looks like a very messy version of the SJ picture linked & I have no idea how to make it look 'done' iyswim.

I had a side fringe not long ago - it's grown out & just irritates me now.

OP posts:
featherandblack · 17/09/2015 23:10

PLEASE let me know if there is a treatment that can produce a permanent wave like the one in the picture of Scarlett Johanssen. I also desperately need to update my look and this may be exactly what I need to try!!!There should a whole topic of mumsnet devoted to giving advice on a makeover, to a power who has submitted a photo.

clutterfly · 17/09/2015 23:14

Hi, I think your length is good and I wouldn't go shorter if I were you. Longer is softer and more flattering I think. As someone else said, I'd go for a warmer blonde colour to give you that lift you need.

Truckingalong · 18/09/2015 07:41

Defo dont go shorter (ageing) and don't go for a warmer blonde - go for a cooler blonde (like that pic).

Sixpencenonethericher · 18/09/2015 18:48

You do look like scarlet I like Bellys one

lucysmam · 18/09/2015 21:17

I've just spent half an hour or so on Pinterest...everything I pin is pretty much the same as Belly's picture above so I will nip into the local hairdresser next week to book an appointment.

OP posts:
Sixpencenonethericher · 18/09/2015 21:34

Aww it will look lovely

OhYeahMama · 18/09/2015 22:58

A fringe, I have a high forehead and am forever debating the fringe idea.

Bellyrub1980 · 20/09/2015 09:08

Please send us an updated picture!

IndomitabIe · 20/09/2015 09:19

Shorter is not ageing!

I would have recommended a pixie/crop but you've ruled it out.

WendyTorrance · 20/09/2015 09:26

First thing I thought when I looked at you is 'she looks like me!'. You could be my younger sister!

Then my kids wandered in, glanced at the picture and thought it was me too.

My hair currently looks like a burst mattress so I'm of no assistance to you whatsoever though.

lucysmam · 20/09/2015 09:44

Indomitable, I think pixie cuts look fab! I'm just not feeling brave enough to get it all chopped off.

Wendy, your burst mattress description fits today's hair perfectly Grin. I went to bed with it wet & it's an unruly mess this morning.

takemebacktovenice · 20/09/2015 13:49

Not sure about style, but colour wise, I think you could pull off platinum blonde. You should definitely go for something strong. I think if you went for something warming, it could look a little meh.

Jealous. Wish I could rock the platinum look!

IndomitabIe · 20/09/2015 14:26

Be brave. Short hair is the best! And if you don't like it it grows out quickly.
