Winter boots Clarkes

Everyone is moaning about the weather but I see a boot purchase opportunity and found some beautiful brown chunky ankle boots in Clarkes today. www.clarks.co.uk/p/26110935. They do them in black or brown. I've got a couple of pairs of black boots already and would really like some brown ones for a change but am not sure whether it's the done thing to wear brown boots with black opaques teamed with say a casual dress or casual skirt (usually denim).
Feel black is the safe option and I do love the brown ones. Any views that might help my black/brown boots dilemma? I'd never want to wear brown tights btw. A step too far.

Why not wear your dress and tights into Clarks and try both colours?

Does it have to be black tights? What about navy? Burgandy?
Or buy both colours?

I had a pair of boots in black and in brown. I ended up wearing the brown much more than the black. And now the brown boots are knackered (zip broke) I miss them and find the black dull.

I think brown goes with much more than black actually, as I think black can sometimes look a bit dark and harsh.

I've got the Chelsea boot Orinoco style from last year and they're very, very comfy! I love the brown too. Just be careful how you clean them as I ruined my last pair by using an ordinary leather polish

Loving these too wonkylegs. My dilemma has shifted from do I get the black or the brown (I'm getting the brown) to a heel height decision as these are slightly higher but not too high. I think it's as another kind poster suggested best to go in and try all on for a proper assessment leading hopefully to an excited purchase.
