Does anyone wear brooches?

I've found a nice quirky Russian doll brooch on Etsy but I'm not sure how to wear a brooch exactly.

If I had a lovely vintage coat with a jewelled brooch then I probably could pass it off, but how does anyone wear a more modern brooch with modern clothes?

On the lapel of a blazer or to fasten a scarf maybe?

I have a fairly large collection of brooches, in many styles. I wear them across and down the edges of clothing, along pockets, whether breast or hip, on bags, as an extra button, on collars - anywhere really, as long as they don't catch on anything!

I have a black winter coat, I always wear a brooch on it. I love them! I have a load of my nan's ones, my favorite is a spider.
I just pop them on my lapel.
I'd wear modern ones in exactly the same way. My coat is kind of a mac I guess.

I say there, or on collars, or anywhere else you fancy. Single, or grouped. There aren't really any rules about this.

I have a couple, one is a great big topaz glass stone, the other a great sparkly star snowflake affair

They live on my winter hat....black velvet Paddington bear style to keep the thing out of my eyes.

oh and a crocodile one, and a turtle....they do not go on the hat as the pins are too small. They just sit on my dressing table.

I have one on my winter wool coat. Love it!

I have some deco brooches that came from my grandmother, I wear them with tea dresses.

Diamante brooches look great on black dresses instead of a necklace.
