Can you recommend me a drastic do change (with pic)

I am sooooo bored of my hair. I have had the same hair for most of my life and I am so tired of it. Its got so long now that I generally tie it up every day into a pony tail, dullesville. I want to avoid the frumpyness that is threatening to take over my life!
Its sort of wavy if I leave it to dry naturally.

side parting or fringe?

NotTodaySatan · 13/09/2015 21:40

Fringe.

And not a half assed wispy side effort. A proper fringe.

Your length is lovely. A Zooey Deschanel style fringe would frame your face better and give you a new look without chopping it all off.

vintagetat · 13/09/2015 21:42

I have contemplated a fringe for a while, every time I have questioned the hairdresser about it they have poo pooed the idea though which made me nervy.....maybe I should just be more authoritative!!

Talk me out of just cutting myself one now, someone!

NotTodaySatan · 13/09/2015 21:44

It's really easy. I cut mine all the time Grin

Not helpful!

Bellyrub1980 · 13/09/2015 21:45

DO NOT CUT IT YOURSELF

BrendaandEddie · 13/09/2015 21:45

you have a high forehead - a fringe would suit

SavoyCabbage · 13/09/2015 21:45

I had a hairdresser like that, every time I wanted 'a style' they talked me out of it. Eventually I went somewhere else.

StandoutMop · 13/09/2015 21:45

Do you use pinterest? Set up a hair board and pin all the styles you like the look of. Eventually you'll see a trend and can hunt down the one for you.

I do this and you can trace my hair's evolution through the pins (from one length meh to fringed, layered and much shorter).

vintagetat · 13/09/2015 21:48

I'm just doing that now, putting all the hair styles I like on there.
This is a gorgeous do.....

Yy to a nice choppy fringe, and shorten it with layers to give it some body.

But don't listen to me, I'm really bad at going to the hairdresser.

PacificDogwod · 13/09/2015 21:49

Do NOT cut your fringe yourself!

I tried.
I failed.
I tried to tell my hairdresser that it was DS4 wot did it and she laughed and did not believe me Blush
She said my 3 yo would've done a better job of it??

Anywho, you've got lovely hair and a really pretty face.
If you want radical, then go for a pixie cut - you'd look great.

Otherwise, keep your length-ish, and encourage the waves and texture.
Overstraightened hair is so 2014, ma dahlink!

vintagetat · 13/09/2015 21:57

Ahh thanks Pacific! I shall step away from the scissors and make an appointment for the hairdressers tomorrow. Will try a new one, I'll see if I can get some recommendations off friends.

The 9 Emotional Stages Of Cutting Long Hair Grin

I am on stage 1 btw.

Flat36 · 13/09/2015 22:03

Definitely think a fringe would be perfect for you!

JeffsanArsehole · 13/09/2015 22:04

Don't wear the ears so much

Moodykat · 13/09/2015 22:05

I am marking my place because I can't wait to see the results!!

vintagetat · 13/09/2015 22:05

It was at a festival, it was practically compulsory! ;)

TreeSparrow · 13/09/2015 22:05

Choppy fringe and a long bob (just above shoulder) with a slight wedge. Grows out easily if you don't like it.

Saltedcaramel4 · 13/09/2015 22:07

Heavy Fringe.

Bit of colour. Red or blonde

Saltedcaramel4 · 13/09/2015 22:08

Agree long bob with fringe could be good.

Blodss · 13/09/2015 22:28

Marking my place too as I want to see the transformation.

O and yes to a full fringe!!

vintagetat · 13/09/2015 22:45

I promise I will come back and update with a photo (minus the ears!)

Hello all, better late than never! I had my hair chopped today....and here it is.....
It feels very strange but I am so glad I have tried something new. I think I might dye it a daring shade of red next :)
