footwear - what am I looking for??

I am short and for me, in order to feel put together, my shoes need to have heels of at least 6 cm. My feet are slightly wide and as I walk a great deal, so I also need comfortable shoes. I mostly always wear boots. There are some dresses I'd like to wear for work but I don't buy them because they cannot be worn with boots. A while ago I saw a picture of a shoe/boot that I felt would be perfect for smart work dresses, except I've no idea where I saw it and I'm not sure how to search for it.

The only way I can describe them is heeled platform lace up brogues and these shoes from Clarks are very close: www.clarks.co.uk/p/26112259, except the ones I saw were more perfect because they had a platform. The colour was a dark burgundy, really smart.

Anyone know what I mean and where to find it? I have tried all the usual suspects...

Obviously you've looked at Clarks but did you miss these? They seem to fit your brief or are they not brogue-ish enough?

member · 12/09/2015 18:08

They,ve got a "red" version of the ones in your op here www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/clarks-ciera-brine-standard-fit/DI381/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=3718&promo=4212&cm_mmc=AffiliateWindow--SimplyBe--Product%20Feeds-_-143465#colour:Red,size:

where the reflection on front could look like a platform?

TwoInTheMourning · 12/09/2015 19:53

Thank you everyone,

Megan I can't quite explain why but I am not keen on those Clarks shoes, well, not on me anyway. The toe is too pointy, the heel is not blocky and chunky enough and there's not platform.

member, the Ciera ones are a bit better but again, lacking the platform and I am not keen on the shiny effect.

pixie The White Stuff ones are the furthest from what I am after I'm afraid, nowhere near chunky enough, no platform and not keen on the suede. Sorry.

These are the closest I can find but again they're lacking the platform. I am so difficult, sorry!!

Not sure if they are smart enough or closer to what you are looking for.

THE best and comfiest shoes I've worn are by Tsubo, with Fly London running a close second. Tsubo are dear but the come up on eBay and I've just op won this pair in black, I already have the brown pair- for £18.60 inc postage.

Sorry I can't work out how to do a link on my new iPad Blush but if you google Carvela Kurt Geiger Alfred they have a much chunkier feel to them with a bit of a platform.

FaceFullOfFilleronthe45 · 13/09/2015 04:36

Also I know they are not lace ups or brogues, but for a similar weighty show suitable for dresses and winter weR with a heel and a platform try the Abigail by Orla Kiely for Clarks.

Oh FFS sorry that was meant to be a search, not a post. I am really struggling with my iPad. Blush

FaceFullOfFilleronthe45 · 13/09/2015 05:06

Not brogues but nice platform on the Daniel regents park shoes boots in clearance at house of fraser

Not sure they're brogue-ish enough?

Flambola · 13/09/2015 07:18

Looks like my Debenhams link doesn't work. Just search:

Carvela Wine 'Alfred' high block heel lace up brogue style shoe

BikeRunSki · 13/09/2015 07:20

I know these are not what you're after, but for future reference White Stuff usually do s couple of pairs of platform ankle boots. Nothing burgundy or broguey this time though.

TwoInTheMourning · 13/09/2015 07:54

Why thank you everyone, we have some very interesting offerings here and two potential winners.

Number one, the Tommy Hillfiger ones, stunning. Absolutely stunning. The heel is not as chunky as I need for my peace of mind but because of the platform, I feel they'll be okay. Now I just need to find them somewhere in size 5.

The Carvela Alfred (Flambola your links works just fine) are stunning and actually maybe even better because the heel is chunky.

BikeRunSki those are lovely and certainly worth having in mind, thank you!

I do like the idea of the Abigail Orla kiely pair that has been suggested, I think a platform chunky heel t-bar shoe would be a lovely addition, but these in particular I find way too cute (I am early 40s).

Thank you everyone, I am going to see if I can find the Hilfigers in size 5 anywhere or I might just go for the Carvela ones. I hope they'll be okay on slightly wide feet.

Forgot to say, the White Stuff ones are excellent for wide feet.

cressetmama · 13/09/2015 09:09

BikeRunSki those ankle boots are almost identical to a pair I had two years ago, which are looking very sad now. Hmmm.......
