Gap silk blend pocket shirt

I really like the look of the shirt but does it really need to be dry cleaned? I throw my Uniqlo silk shirt into a delicate wash in the machine and it comes out fine. Oh, and do the buttons sit right if you have boobs?

Love the pink. It's a silk/cotton mix so I don't see why it couldn't be handwashed or thrown in on delicate.

That's what I thought too, Remus but I tend to be a bit cavalier about these kinds of things. I'm thinking of dramatically extending my colour repertoire and going for the green.

On an unrelated note, dh has just put on The Half Blood Prince.

I had one last year. Washed fine on wool cycle.

I have recently bought a silk mix top which was dry clean only.

I wash it on a hand wash cycle in a pillow case with only a tiny amount of detergent. I try it as flat as I can.

Great, thanks Liberty.

I once read that shops often put 'dry clean' only on labels as a lazy way to protect themselves - if you wash it and ruin it then they can say it's because you washed it and if the dry cleaners ruin it, you can blame them

Even on a hand wash, I'd still put it in a sealed pillow case - I used the hand wash cycle in my washing machine for a cashmere jumper and it came out with holes.

I recently bought a jumper from gap online. It said dry clean only but when it turned up the garment label said cold machine wash.
