Armpits, what to do with them?

Not UK , so it is getting warmer. I have lost a pile of weight , have done a ton of press ups and feel confident to wear vest tops in the heat.

BUT

I am very pale skinned, I don't really tan and I have very dark hair. I normally shave my pits but by the end of the day I have 5 o'clock shadow iyswim. I epilady my legs but am too much of a woose to try that and I am too skint to go to a salon to get a wax.

I do not have sensitive skin.
Any suggestions?

Epilate them, it's fine!

Lulabellarama · 11/09/2015 12:57

I disagree, I epilate my bikini line without wincing but armpits are too much for me.
Give it a try though, we obviously all have different thresholds. And it gets easier the more you do it.

I have tried to epilate before, but ended up bleeding! Really don't want to try that again.

Ooh yes, I have pale skin and dark hair and I got completely hacked off with the 5 o'clock pit shadow.

I went through waxing and epilating my legs over the years but can't bring myself to put the evil epilator near my pits. (Years ago I had a nasty tussel with an electric razor which pinched my armpit )

I use the epilator on my legs all the time, it's quicker and because the hairs are fine, easier.
But I hot wax my armpits.

Body scrub, dry, dusting of talc, wax.(Apply in the direction of the hair, wax off against the direction,)
I need to do two -one up,one down (hair grows in odd directions Grin)
Keep the skin tight (arm behind your head) and keep the strip as near to parallel as you can.

I would try and get a salon wax just for the first time and then it's easier to carry on at home with an epilator or those sticky wax strips. That's what I did, now I find once a week is enough.

I have pale skin and dark hair and the Philips IPL lumen thing has been amazing. Hardly any hair and no shadow at all.

Bunbaker · 11/09/2015 18:36

The first time I epilated my armpits it hurt, but keeping on top of it every few days means it doesn't hurt at all.

specialsubject · 11/09/2015 18:46

so you have armpit inspectors where you live? Is somebody checking for a tiny amount of regrowth?

remember; no man ever went through pain for appearance. Why bother?

shaving doesn't hurt, is quick and easy.

Toffeelatteplease · 11/09/2015 19:04

Hair removal cream. Veet.

Bunbaker · 11/09/2015 19:18

Veet made my armpits come up in a rash. In my case the hairs grow back pretty quickly as well.

burnishedsilver · 11/09/2015 19:23

Plenty of men wax these days specialsubject, chest and back hair in particular.

Bunbaker · 11/09/2015 19:26

I don;t move in circles where men do that. I'm too ancient.

carrie74 · 11/09/2015 19:55

IPL machine is amazing! My armpit hair is pretty much non existent now after only a few weeks of home treatment and some top ups every so often.

specialsubject · 12/09/2015 11:33

wow - men have got fashion-lobotomies too.

must be like shagging a hedgehog...

Laser. You can buy a Philips lumea and do it at home, or have it done at a salon. It will be really effective, especially with your colouring (pale with dark hairs.
