French Connection sizing

Anyone know how this comes up? It used to be very much 'vanity' sizing and I hope it still is, because I have ordered a dress which otherwise will not go round one thigh, let alone the rest of me ...

I don't find them vanity sized tbh. I'd say fairly normal

i disagree, still vanity sized. I've never worn more than a 12 there and I;m a 16 in other places.

I find they come up big too. At least 1 if not 2 sizes ime

I once bought two pairs of trousers from French Connection on the same day. One was a size 6, the other a 12. Both fitted. I am usually a pretty standard size 8. I would say their sizing is unreliable! (The trousers in question weren't just mis-labelled as I tried a variety of sizes in each style before I found the ones that fitted.)

Judydreamsofhorses · 09/09/2015 23:12

I honestly think it depends on the item. I'm a 10/12 and in the last few months have bought one top in small, which is actually a bit big, and more recently one top in large, which is a perfect fit. My weight hasn't changed at all and both tops are pretty similar style (stripes, turtleneck, fairly fitted) just that one has sleeves and the other doesn't.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/09/2015 08:54

Actually I think that's probably true Judy. My recent purchases have all been more formal fitted dresses or coats with no stretch and they definitely have not been vanity sized but I've got a couple of older tops which are pretty big.

I shall live in hope. It's a suede dress, so I imagine they'll have been mingy with the cutting rather than generous.

Thanks for the responses, Ladies

dresses are usually normally sized, shirts and jackets small and tops large

Ilovetorrentialrain · 11/09/2015 08:28

My experiences have been like Optimism's. I'm wearing a FC dress now, size 8 (I'm really not an 8!) and it fits perfectly. Also own stuff in10 and 12 though the 12 skirt is a bit tight at the moment. Sizing is bonkers but I still love some of their stuff. Good quality.

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 12/09/2015 19:24

It fitted! I'm definitely one and a half sizes larger than the ticket, too

However, it did me no favours, so it's going back

Bah
