I saw a woman at the weekend wearing a cool plum coloured poncho, lightweight, no roll neck, I think it has tassles along the bottom. Just looked v cool and relaxed and now I want one but can't for the life of me find a purply/plum one anywhere..... Has anyone seen one?

oh they are everywhere

they had some nice ones in Tesco of all places in a colour like you describe

but have also seen them in primark, tk maxx, new look, most high street places actually

StewedFruit · 09/09/2015 18:50

Think I need to get out to the shops... I have seen q a few but not in this particular plummy colour & soft and drapey. Should have just asked where it was from!

Sorry epic linking failure.

lurkingabit · 09/09/2015 20:24

Every flipping year I want a poncho. Every year I return it. I look like a tool in them. But I REALLY would like one.

Shame(ful)less place marking

StewedFruit · 09/09/2015 21:27

The one I saw was all in one not the wrap type in the new look link but the colour is q similar, maybe more purply... tbh I'm probably not cool enough to carry it off. Just having a thing about them (again)

I have a couple, I think they are fab. I got a beautiful one in Zara last year.

Would love a hooded coat type one (cape?) and one long enough to wear leggings with !

StewedFruit · 10/09/2015 07:05

Ooh I like the oasis one! Very tempted...

I bought one several years ago and have hardly worn it - until this last week - it's perfect for this awful weather. Every time I put it on my 11 year old DS laughs at me :/

CatEyeFlick · 10/09/2015 10:21

ooh I love that new look one fioerntina

squoosh · 10/09/2015 10:31

Oh Gawd, are ponchos back again?

They were everywhere in 2005 I think it was. Awful things. They make hefty people look as wide as a bus and make skinny people look like Clint Eastwood.

CatEyeFlick · 10/09/2015 10:46

they are more of a wrap / scarf hybrid this time though squoosh

I love them, they are so cosy

W00t · 10/09/2015 10:50

I tried the ultra expensive cashmere white company one, but it was meh on me.

NotTodaySatan · 10/09/2015 10:52

I'm with squoosh.

They make even the slimmest of wearers look chunky and also a bit like Clint Eastwood.

Blodss · 10/09/2015 10:53

I think that worn the right way they look effortlessly elegant and stylish. Too hot for one here though at the moment.

GrimDamnFanjo · 10/09/2015 14:03

Love them and are tempted to get another one - I agree that they arn't very flattering though :(

legolegolego · 10/09/2015 15:13

I have the New Look one. I love it.

Zame · 10/09/2015 16:04

I've been toying with the idea of buying a poncho for a few weeks now but being 5.4 and anlittle on the chunky side I'm not sure I can carry one off

Zame · 10/09/2015 16:05

They look so warm and snug though, might just get one anyway and fuck what I look like

StandoutMop · 10/09/2015 16:10

I bought one in 2010 when pg in autumn / winter for first time and needed something warm and bump covering.

It is grey ribbed, has no tassels and is quite square. It cost me about £12 from H&M and has been worn, and complimented, more times than almost anything else in my wardrobe, even been stopped in street by people asking where it is from. Am waiting for the cold weather so I can get it out again.

amarmai · 10/09/2015 20:33

yy to a rectangular cut poncho. You don't get the fabric bunching in the front- more lies along the arms in a kimono effect.

CatEyeFlick · 11/09/2015 09:12

of course you can zame wear what you want and I bet you will look lovely
