How to look not completely disgusting in winter

I've got sort of grey green skin. It just needs a bit of sun and it tans easily but in the winter months I look essentially dead. And I have dark circles under my eyes that abate with a bit of a tan. For some reason my hair is great in the summer and horrendous in the winter.

I also just can't do winter clothes. In summer I think I dress well and generally look pretty alright but winter I'm just the worst.

I would love some tips, colours to wear, maybe tactics for not looking so washed out. I don't know really!

I have highlighted mousy brown hair but have no money so have major roots and think I'll just have to put up with it and embrace the mousy brown even though it makes me look even more washed out.

Thanks in advance!

If you can't afford to get your colours done, maybe have a look at one those websites where you can 'diagnose' yourself Grin. Wearing colours that actually suit you can really lift your whole appearance. Its worked wonders for me. I realised, for example, that I look shit in black, but that charcoal grey and dark navy make me look much more alive.

I wear fake tan all winter. Not oomph loompa orange, but a light shade that lifts my blue-white-grey skin to a pale golden colour. Clinique Self Sun is my favourite. Its a faff, but honestly, I look ill without it.

I can't afford to get my roots done at the hairdressers, either, so do it at home. Is that an option?

I've also embraced bright lipstick, having only ever worn natural shades of lip gloss or balm before. It lifts my whole face, although its only for days when I'm feeling sassy (so... not often then Grin).

Finally - if you can get a good coat and pair of boots that you feel good in, you can get through winter, in my opinion. Doesn't have to be expensive. i picked up a coat in telco (yes, really!) the other day that I love, and if I stick that on with some nice boots, I feel presentable to the world, even if what i'm wearing underneath is a bit shite.

I read somewhere that if you tan easily you are likely to be a summer. I have the olive skin/pale in winter/dark rings under eyes thing. Denim blues, greys, teals and pinks suit me best.

I look like death warmed up in black/brown and neutrals
