What to wear for long haul flight/Maldives evenings

Hi - can anyone recommend a comfy stylish outfit for long haul flight (not leggings) and things to wear in evenings in Maldives? Have missed the boat for summer wear and am stuck for inspiration. Desperately searching online - I go in 2 weeks. Am 5'9 size 14/16.

Why not leggings? I find they work best for long haul. I wear them under a cotton dress with a big jumper when we set off, and then take the leggings and jumper off on arrival. I also stash a pair of flip flops in my hand luggage and swap them.
Maldives hardly cools down at night, and the resorts I've been to have all been very casual. Simple maxi dresses are perfect for evenings. And don't waste suitcase space on shoes- you won't need them. One pair of flip flops for day, and one of pretty flat sandals for evening is all you need. No-one apart from the odd Russian gangster wears heels.
One thing you might want to consider though is that the aircon in rooms can be FIERCE and they often only put one sheet on the bed. I never wear pyjamas at home unless there's a foot of snow outside, but I did last time I was in the Maldives.
Have a fab time, btw. Where are you going? Have you been before?

Thanks for replies ????

I never wear leggings - just don't think they work on me. Prefer black tights. I've usually worn linen trousers as a last minute panic thing and of course they end up looking awful - plus not keen on them either.

Like the idea of cotton dress on plane but the ones I have are short beach type things..

I have been to Maldives before - Maafushivaaru - and this time am going to Kuramathi and Kandohlu. I do usually take a couple of maxi dresses but I can't find any that aren't polyester or some other sweaty sticky fabric.

Am going with new BF for first holiday so will be a trial of more than just what to wear on the plane!! Wink

Just come back from Malaysia, I found some great wide-leg trousers in New look. Really comfy and cool to wear. Wish I'd bought more than one pair!

I flew to Thailand a few months ago and wore black hareem trousers, a black and white striped t-shirt, and had a big French Connection scarf. I kept a long sleeve cotton top in my bag for layering when I got cold on the plane, and wore Birkenstock sandals. I felt incredibly comfortable and the layers meant I wasn't too hot when I arrived in Bangkok.

Gap had cotton maxis over the summer, might be worth a look to see if there are any left.

Those islands look amazing, I'm jealous.

Thanks for the ideas - will go searching. What are hareem trousers? Sound like you have to be v skinny...

Flying to Thailand I wore black leggings, a slub tshirt, lightweight cardigan and took a big scarf. I wore flipflops because they are easy to wear through security, you don't even have to take them off because they can see your feet. But i did take socks in hand luggage because sometimes it's cold on the flight.

On the way back I wore a black maxi dress with a jumper.

Hello you!

I've got some of these in black for walking/hiking. They're really soft and comfy and look fine with flip flops or canvas shoes as per model.

Black Trousers

Pupsiecola! It's you! Ha!

Yes they may be doable - will have a look - as long as they're not granny trews! And how about finding me a stunning, chic ensemble for the evenings made out of linen or cotton... Grin
