Didrikson coat sizing

Hi ladies, am thinking of buying a Didrikson angelina coat but wondering about sizing. Do they come up big or small? I'm between a 10-12, slim hipped but 34d bust. Should I go for a 10 or a12? Any tips would be great!

they come up tall but slim. I would go with a 12 by your discription.

kiwidreamer · 05/09/2015 14:30

Email the Viking kids people they are mega helpful, my Didrikson comes up large I'm a 14/16 (big boobs) and they recommended the 12 and its good --tho significantly better fit when I'm more 14 than 16--

Holymoly321 · 05/09/2015 15:21

Hi kiwi dreamer, I have heard that the sizing comes up big. Does your coat ever feel tight across the shoulders? Have to say I'm inclined to go for the 10 as its 38 and that's the size tops id go for in say h&m!

I agree with Konserve, tall and slim - I sized up to be able to get a thick sweater on, DH did the same.

I think that their sizing changed last year - VK say this on some coats:

Didriksons have overhauled their entire range this year and we now find that the coat comes up true to size, so we no longer recommend going a size down! Most ladies who are between two sizes have chosen the smaller size but this of course depends on individual shape and preference with regards to fit.

Depends if you want to layer underneath.

Ahh sounds like lavendersun is in the know, this will be my third winter with my coat and I'm most definitely not a 12 but it fits well and zips all the way up --now, didn't last year when I was a bit pudgy thank god for long scarves and no snow--

lavendersun · 05/09/2015 17:14

In the know - me Grin, never happened before.

I think the cut is fairly up and down too (have an Angelina), I speak as a pear shaped being.

Extra room on top in my sized up version but not particularly round my hips.

Definitely a 12. I've got a 10 and it's neat and I'm an 8-10, 32D.

Thanks so far guys. Could you tell me if its a really warm coat? I've got to stand outside in freezing cold weather for all Saturday and Sunday weekend mornings for football and rugby (ah the joy of two ds's!) and I really feel the cold. I need to be toasty as well as dry!

def warm

Holymoly321 · 05/09/2015 19:55

I only ask because they don't 'look' particularly warm, that cotton type fabric rather then a big puffa. Are they padded? Am worried it won't be as warm as a down coat but I can't afford a waterproof down that looks good!

I have got both, a really thick north face down coat with a waterproof outer (can't remember the name and it is a few years old now anyway) - I think that is warmer than the Didriksons but the Didriksons is more waterproof and the windproofness keeps you warm.

That was why I sized up - to get something under it - longer than my NF and the hood is bigger.

Mine is lightly padded with a furry lining.

Konserve · 05/09/2015 20:03

agree the. windproofing is what keeps you warmest.

not being too padded makes it easier to move in them. after all it's a hiking coat.

lavendersun · 05/09/2015 20:04

Just looked up my North Face - Arctic Parka ... I bought the didriksons because I couldn't fasten the NF up round my bottom Blush after taking steroids and gaining weight. Hopefully this year I will be able to zip up the bottom half.

NF Arctic Parka def warmer imo.

lavendersun · 05/09/2015 20:06

But yes - Didriksons feels easier to move in, definitely notwithstanding fatness.

And I think the Didriksons is nicer overall.

Holymoly321 · 05/09/2015 20:14

Thanks guys. Think I will go with the Didrikson but also invest in some thermal underwear for sports watching!

The newer range is more realistic size wise. I got one last year in a 38 - I am 12-14 with F boobs. I am also fairly tall (5'8'') long arms and legs and it fits perfectly! Very warm and wind/waterproof too. It has been tested a lotSmile. Defo worth the money
