Lindy Bop dress

Hello,

I have a wedding to attend in December, and thinking of ordering this dress

I'm wondering if anyone has ordered anything from them. Are the dresses decent quality (any fitting issues etc), and also if this style would suit me (5'1" curvy figure).

That's a lovely dress. I think it would be flattering. I no with the dress I got from the Internet I got a size bigger . The quality was good. Cotton with 3 per cent elastane

Can't remember whether it was Vivienne of holloway now or another company.

I've got this dress, in two colours Grin

It's lovely and really flattering... in my experience they are made true to size so I've never had to worry about sizing up/down as with other websites.

I don't have a petticoat, no. It looks flared enough without it anyway. I wanted one but couldn't afford it at the time!

I have a couple of their dresses (not this one tho!). Agree they're good quality and true to size - they do arrive pretty creased so you'll need to factor in time for lots of ironing on the huge skirt! I also bought a petticoat, it would be a shame not to really with dresses of this shape!

Thanks rain, luckily I don't mind ironing too much then :-)

Think I'll go for the petticoat too, as I already have shoes etc, so don't need to buy those.

I've got a few of their dresses, really good quality and they look fabulous. I don't have that one though. I'm 5ft0 and curvy and have a similar full skirted dress and a wiggle dress, I think both look good.

I have a couple of dresses from lindybop and the sizing has been fine. I do have petticoats, one I got from lindybop but when I needed another in a different colour I got it from amazon, much cheaper!

The dresses are great and look fab, I am 5 2 and have an hourglass shape and they look great, emphasise all the right bits. I like that style so much I had my wedding dress made in a 50's style.

I would go up a size personally. I ordered around 6 dresses from them and the whole lot went back as none of them fit, in some cases by several inches on a size 16. Also the whole lot looked screwed up and despite the pictures on the website they all looked cheap with bits of cotton stuck to them or trailing from the hems. Be warned if you send it back you pay the delivery back to them.

I won't order from them ever again.

I have only ordered from them once (never ever again) the dress was badly made, creased to fuck and just hung really weird. To add insult to injury it cost me nearly five quid to send the bugger back.

i have a wholesale account with them and have ordered lots of the dresses as costumes for a recent dance show for different students. I would say that the quality varies from dress to dress as does the sizing. The lana is the best by far and the 10 which i have in green is exactly accurate to the size chart measurements. I would ignore the size and measure yourself accurately and match with the size chart measurements.

I wore the green one with the petticoat to a wedding and did feel like Audrey Hepburn for the day....which in my book is defintely a good thing!!

I have two dresses from them and I love both of them. I bought a cheaper petticoat from Amazon which has worked fine.

I think that would be flattering on a curvy figure. The fabric is a woven cotton with a bit of elastin, so buy to your size and if in doubt go down a size because the fabric will stretch a bit for you and the style is meant to hug the bodice and the waist.

I recently ordered this dress and loads of people complimented it. I wore it with the petticoat to give the full effect. Size wise I went off the measurements on their site not the size. I was very impressed with the quality but yes it will need a good iron!

I've had a dress from Lindybop and found the stretch cotton to be excellent quality. I sized up and it fitted like a glove. However... I also ordered the Lana dress at the same time, in the green silky sort of fabric (can't think what it would be called - it wasn't cotton anyway and looked like a dull fake silk or something). I sent it back because it looked awful on - unflattering in the extreme - and I thought the quality was terrible.

Might be worth ordering more than one size to try. I don't have this dress but I do have the Ophelia and their size guide said I should order a size 20 based on my measurements. I am glad I ordered my usual 16 as it was quite roomy, definitely didn't need any bigger. I guess it depends on the material of the dress and your proportions though. The dress is really lovely so I hope you get it.

I also am curvy and normally a 16. Size chart suggested I'd be an 18/20. The 16 was fine, 18 went back unopened. The only thing I noticed on the Lana dress is that the neckline is quite wide so gaped a little but fits well everywhere else and that could just be me. I also have an ophelia and was unsure about it when I ordered but it is actually very flattering if you have large boobs.

Brenda not a church wedding, and I'm of hardy Canadian stock, so fine with uncovered arms in the British winter... Will also probably get a warm fuzzy cardi ;-)

I have a couple of Lindy Bop dresses and I'm lucky that I have a vintage dress shop very close to me and have literally tried on all their dresses.
I find that they are fairly true to size. I'm 5ft3 and a size 16 but with only a c cup. I find that some of their dresses can be generous around the bust.

I tend to wear without a petticoat for day wear but I will wear them for the evening.

I personally find that Hearts and Roses, and Hell Bunny are slightly better fitting and quality.
Lindy Bop is still good though, and that dress is very pretty.

Oh, and with the flared skirt you can hide bum and thighs while showing off a waist and boobs.
