Salyclic acid

Ive just started using a salyclic acid cleanser and my skin feels really dry.

Is that right?

I had a microdermabrasion on Monday as well. I want to go and slather my skin in inteive moisturiser but I've been given a cleanser, treatment and oil free moisturiser/serum to use and I don't want to mess it up by adding things.

But it feels so dry and a bit tight!

Have you just cleansed and left it? Or used the serum/moisturiser etc as well.

Salicylic in a cleanser prob isnt doing that much - it spends seconds on your skin before you remove it which isn't long enough for it to work. If your skin feels tight it's prob the cleanser (which hopefully wasn't foaming) and that you haven't moisturised like you normally would.

Salicylic works better in leave on products like toners so it gets time to work.

I've used the whole lot. The treatment/ serum whatever also has salicyic in it I think. I think my skin is clearer after only about five days but it's also really dry.

Do I stick with it?

Well you don't have to use the whole range, just the bits you like. Would you be happy to share the name of what you have got?

If you had a cleanser already that you liked and an oil free moisturiser you liked (assuming your issue is spots/blackheads), then you could just stick with the treatment serum which is prob the most important bit.

The dermatologist has given me these products - the wash is I think averge? Something like that I will google it - and then the other two are epionce products, lytic tx and a renewal lotion.

I will go look up the cleanser.

Maybe its the microdermabrasion that's making your skin feel tight? I've used a cleanser with salicylic and a salicylic acid toner every day for over a year now with no dryness at all

RJnomaaaaaargh · 03/09/2015 22:15

Yes it could be that. I'm happy to work through it if it's temporary.

They are all v reputable products and on my wish list I use salicylic everyday and it doesn't make my skin tight so agree with XiCi could it be the microdermabrasion?

What follow up does the clinic have? You should be able to ring them up for some advice if you are having problems.

Yes I have a mobile for her if I have any issues, I wasn't sure if this was normal though so I thought I would ask.

I have another appointment on the 23rd so I will wait until then unless it gets worse, in which case I will call. I'm dying to put my Clinique moisture quench on it but I don't want to because there's actually a big difference already.

I'm glad they're reputable I had never heard of them but I thought stuff it in for a penny in for a pound...
