ultimate work dress

I am looking for the ultimate work dress. Needs to be machine washable, knee length, not sleeveless, comfy, doesn't make me self concious about my wobbly belly. And I intend to wear it once a week (I only go into the office twice a week) so shouldn't be too noticeable.

Can you help me find one please.

What size are you?

What is your body shape?

moveon · 01/09/2015 21:44

5ft 2 size 10 (hovering on a 12 since the summer).
No idea what body shape I am! How do I find out?

phase eight

I would go for something quite plain rather than a pattern. Then you can change the look completely with different jewellery, belts etc. I would tire of a bold pattern quickly if I was wearing it once a week.

Depends where you work. I've just bought this one

I work in media, so this can be worn with black tights and ankle boots for every day meetings, or bare legs and heels for events, but it's probably too casual for some industries

I actually find sainsburys really good for work dresses.

Boden petite - brilliant for jersey dresses, with sleeves and bits to cover tummies. Go for their plain ones rather than the overly patterned stuff. Is pricey, so look for the sale stuff or ebay has a shop.

I've got my eye on this - it's way nicer in real life

Look at the Me and Em sale for a few dramatically reduced work dresses - I just picked a couple up for £25 each.

Koalafications · 02/09/2015 10:05

mysteryfairy I've seen a gorgeous dress on there, but I haven't ordered from there before, what's their sizing like?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 02/09/2015 10:24

Seconding mysteryfairy - the Me+Em ruched pencil dresses are my ultimate work dress. I have 4 and wear them all the time - I'd say they tick all your criteria :)

I'm a 10-12 and M is perfect. They are so forgiving too.

hellsbellsmelons · 02/09/2015 10:25

They have many similar designs in different colours etc..

I bought this a couple of weeks ago - only go into work twice a month, machine washable, really flattering.
