I only went in to buy a chopper and ended up lingering, I havent lingered in m&s for years

A chopper? As in a helicopter, or as in an axe?

BigRedBall · 01/09/2015 15:45

My mum used to have a coat just like that in the 80's

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 01/09/2015 15:45

Grin at going in to buy a chopper

Haven't looked in m and s clothing for months, despite it being my nearest clothes shop. I am however on the opinions panel, where I get an email every month or so asking me to review and comment on some new products they are thinking of launching. I cant say much of it has tickled my fancy so far, they are probably fed up with me ticking the dislike button by now! Hmm

BigRedBall · 01/09/2015 16:06

Grin I wonder if I should carry on the tradition

I'm also on their opinions panel and last month disliked almost every short skirt pic they showed me. They were ugly. I still love their kids clothes and uniforms though.

KnockMeDown · 01/09/2015 16:09

Can I change the subject slightly and ask how you get on to the opinions panel? And does it involve any discounts?

< hopeful >

CalonDu · 01/09/2015 16:45

I'm on the opinions panel and was sent a survey about sandals the other day - I had to guesstimate how much I'd pay for each pair. FFS! Aren't you meant to be the judge of that, M&S?

There are some nice things in at the moment - M&S really does its best work in that 'back to school' period. I had my annual 'Oooh, I love mohair kilts!' moment in my local branch. And yet again, for the 15th year in a row, I remain surprised when the cut tugs unflatteringly across my hips and makes me look like Velma from Scooby Doo, not in a good way. Sigh.

DarylDixonsDarlin · 01/09/2015 16:47

Nah no freebies or discounts for it, stingy bastards they are Grin I honestly don't know how I got onto it? I think I must have clicked yes when they asked me if id be interested in giving my opinions or something, I ordered stuff last year and it may have happened after that...

I haven't seen the skirts one yet, I had bras, pyjamas and something else that was SO interesting I can't even remember...zzz Grin anyway it was all viscose or itchy looking stuff with bizarre prints I think.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/09/2015 18:07

When I saw "chopper" I thought of those very trendy long bikes that every kid had in the 70s.

I walked through M&S (bought Sherbert Sweets for DS, no random sharps ) and saw some really nice things.
A T Shirt (animal print) much nicer than the long sleeved one.
A gorgeous jumper
Some mustard and cranberry (which is allegedly the AW colour combo)

I'm looking for a white shirt , might order with the 20% off.
And I need boots.......................

BrendaandEddie · 01/09/2015 18:08

i dont like the coat on a big bust

plus boots are EVERYWHERE
As for VEG choppers...

I like the aztecy wrap they have in our local one but worry I will look like Clint Eastwood

verenti · 01/09/2015 18:27

Perhaps that could be your look for this season Brenda - would Clint wear this?
They had a nice grey jumper with a cross over back but it has sold out online.

Badmumton · 01/09/2015 18:35

I got two pairs of decent boots in M&S last week. Thats a first for me.

Black ankle boots for work - nice suede ones, very comfy.

Also bought their over the knee boots on a whim (M&S long boots are usually vile, imho) and they are really nice on and feel good quality.

Those check coats seem to be everywhere for autumn, must be a thing.

BrendaandEddie · 01/09/2015 18:36

LINK ME V

Bunbaker · 01/09/2015 18:37

I like those boots, but sorry, I think that coat is hideous. I used to help out at a lot of jumble sales in the 1970s and there were a lot of coats like that.

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 01/09/2015 18:51

Don't apologise for hating the coat. Maybe it is my teenage Stockholm syndrome resurfacing. Am now remembering my mother standing purposefully in one of those coats demanding I come to mass. Lol at chopper bike. Chopper is v good for garlic and chillies btw

OnlyHereForTheCamping · 01/09/2015 18:54

That Aztec wrap also belongs in my mothers 80/90's wardrobe. What is happening to us? It will be foot gloves next

Duckdeamon · 01/09/2015 18:57

Grin at The Chopper: this season's Vogue must have!

verenti · 01/09/2015 18:58

jumper

BrendaandEddie · 01/09/2015 19:05

likey but front a bit high

DarylDixonsDarlin · 01/09/2015 19:08

Oh my, there is a lot of fringy wraps there Confusedare they a thing this autumn? I nearly bought the Asda one, glad I didn't, is now sold out in my local store. Looks nice on the hanger, but it made me look like a man wearing his dog's blanket.

BrendaandEddie · 01/09/2015 19:15

DONT INVEST IN STYLES IN SEPT

always a fool's errand

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/09/2015 19:41

Love that jumper, but out of stock. Am planning on getting one of those wraps, to wear over my leather jacket when it gets cooler, but not cold enough for a full-on Winter coat.

They had a gorgeous skirt in store, but I can't see it online - bottle green midi length. Brenda would hate it!

I like this. Got a cowl neck cashmere one last year and wore it loads.

Love these boots

BrandNewAndImproved · 01/09/2015 19:53

The coat is awful. I can't recommend topshop enough for coats, great quality and last forever. My favourite topshop coat will be on its 4th year this year and I still love it.
