DD bought some Kickers & the surface is coming off - should it have lasted longer?

They aren't quite patent but the top surface is coming off

She bought them at Easter & hasn't worn them like school shoes; should they have lasted a bit longer? or am I optimistic?

I guess I must have been - I just expected them to last a bit longer

My DD got some for school in Yr 6 (she's now going into Yr 9)

She wore them for the winter then they started peeling at the crease area across the top (big toe joint). They weren't worn in snow and we made sure we dried them properly.
So they lasted maybe 5 months , possibly less.

Hers were the shiney patent (she grew out of them so I didn't contact Kickers, but I cosmetically enhanced them with the scratch polish they sell and recycled them)

They are ££ too even back then I was Shock

Do they look too 'worn' to try to take back?
