Does anyone else NEVER find trousers that suit them?

I just cannot seem to find any trousers for work that look right.

I'm fairly limited as to where I can shop for them, as I'm tall (Boden, Next, a few high street shops' tiny Tall ranges).

I'm a size 12 and an inverted triangle shape.

Slim fit trousers make me look like I'm about to keel over (big bust, skinny legs).

Wide leg make me look like a giant clown.

Bootcut and straight are the least worst, but still don't seem to flatter me.

Also, although I'm fairly slim at first glance, as have very long slim legs and a decent waist, I have a c-section overhang on my lower belly which shows up in literally EVERY pair of trousers I try on.

I love dresses, but I would like ONE pair of trousers to wear to work Sad.

Same here! Long, slim legs, big boobs and a belly. I live in skirts and dresses. If they fit me round the middle, they're saggy round the bum. M&S 'long' jeans are ok but not brilliant.

KatoPotato · 30/08/2015 17:52

Gah sorry not advice but I'm exactly the same! C section sees my body looking like its melted and collected as a belly pouch that looks awful in all trousers. Despite a small waist and slim legs and arms!!

niminypiminy · 30/08/2015 18:28

Cos could be your friend. Pleated tapered trousers would work, more relaxed ankle length version, another black version. This style is incredibly flattering and easy to wear, yet also smart enough for work, IMO.

sksk · 30/08/2015 23:30

I have read some good reviews here on Winser London. Phase eight perhaps?

niminypiminy · 31/08/2015 09:38

I have a pair of Winser miracle trousers and they are indeed fab. Very, very flattering indeed. But expensive!

Buttercup27 · 31/08/2015 09:40

Same here but not tall. I can either get trousers that look nice around the waist and bumps but massive around the legs or lovely legs and horrible waist.
I've given up and bought dresses and thick tights.

treaclesoda · 31/08/2015 09:43

I really struggle with trousers too (unless it's jeans). Have very slim legs and very flat bum but am apple shaped and have disproportionately big belly (much of it skin overhang from 2 c sections, rather than fat, I'm horribly self concious of it) which means that not only do trousers look bad on me but they actually fall down. Not a good look...

SaltyGoodness · 31/08/2015 09:44

I agree! The only ones that ever fit really really were Joseph (rare find from a charity shop) and they are hideously expensive.

I now live in sloan-fit ankle trousers from Banana Republic, they are fab. Would you give them a try - I think the wide structured waistband really helps with any tummy overhang?

BrendaandEddie · 31/08/2015 09:45

HELLO OP. I too am tits and slim legs. I love a trouser.

BrendaandEddie · 31/08/2015 09:46

You need gap or banana republic for work trousers.

New look shinnies are good. As are uniqlo jeans.

BrendaandEddie · 31/08/2015 09:47

Agree Sloan fit is good. I have some of those in cranberry for work. Gap always skinny or if you want straight then those in black.

BrendaandEddie · 31/08/2015 09:48

Try a top the same colour as bottom to minimise bust

BrendaandEddie · 31/08/2015 09:49

Got these the other day and they're great. Long too m.gap.co.uk/product.html?dn=gp000534395000&dv=0&shopid=0&pdn=gc57397&outlet=false

Pointlessfan · 31/08/2015 09:56

I hate buying trousers, you are not alone! Thinking of giving up on them altogether for work and just wearing dresses.

OneHandFlapping · 31/08/2015 12:53

I have the same melty CS scar thing, and I find these are comfortable, and smooth it out into a gentle curve. I always wear them with clothes that cling to the belly - mainly skirts in my case.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/08/2015 13:02

Another one with a big bust and slim legs. I usually wear cigarette/slim trousers, but with a plain black top to make my bust seem less obvious.

These are nice, despite the vile name and the fact that they are pull on. They have some with a side zip too, which are even nicer, but I can't find them online.

I've just bought these to try as they are mostly cotton. I had to size up though, and I think they'd be too short for you.

BrendaandEddie · 31/08/2015 13:16

i hate side zips, you see, always think they give you camel toe

BrendaandEddie · 31/08/2015 13:18

i saw some nice tregging type things in Next with cargo pockets on the side to make them look more trousery

Egghead68 · 31/08/2015 13:22

I am tall and pear-shaped with saddle-bag thighs. I can't find any trousers to fit all all. I went into Guess jeans on Saturday to ask for styles to fit my body shape and they just said they didn't do them.

AliAliAlium · 31/08/2015 13:35

Yes! I am a different shape to you (basically a small, petite Apple - 5'2, size 8 everywhere other than my tummy, which is a 10ish on a good day (I need to do those postnatal exercises!) but I have a hideous 3x c-section overhang and this is what scuppers trouser wearing. Off duty I do longish tops with jeans, but this doesn't work for smart. Thanks for posting this, I will follow closely and try out some of the suggestions.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/08/2015 13:39

I just wear a longer top on a side-zip trews day.

AmberNectarine · 31/08/2015 20:03

Yes, trousers a nightmare. I am 5'4, 6-8 but with rugby player's thighs. Fucking terrible combo. Am going back to work and did trouser shopping recently - bought two pairs in DKNY which are ok.

Badmumton · 31/08/2015 21:30

Just caught up wit this - thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm going to do another shopping expedition at the weekend, so will bear all suggestions in mind.

Nice to know I'm not alone, strangely Grin

Oh god always buy online

Badmumton · 31/08/2015 23:02

I'm an online shopper, honestly, but I have had to send back EIGHT pairs of trousers this week alone and am so sick of it! Grin
