Handbag help

I'm going to a late autumn wedding and need to stick to a tight budget. I've managed to get a couple of barely worn ebay bargains so I'm sorted for trousers (cream wool) and a top (red and cream silk) and planning to wear a red coat and cream shoes I already have. The handbag is the last thing I need and I'm a bit nonplussed - I'm not much of a handbag person, I tend to use a big, roomy cross body bag until it falls apart and I then replace it with something very similar! I'm currently not even sure what colour I should be looking for - is cream to match the shoes considered naff? If not cream, should I get red (and risk it being a shade that clashes with the coat?) I neeed it to be reasonably priced/cheap but would prefer it not to look cheap and plasticky, and I like retro or simple styles. If there's somewhere other than ebay or TKMaxx I should be looking, id be delighted to hear suggestions on that as well as colour.

Is matching your bsg with your shoes considered naff?. I hope not because I do, and if I had to say something bad about myself, I 'D be able to talk for hours but my dress sense would most certainly not be one of them
So yes a cream or red bag would be fine. Or gold might be nice to break it up

I think an oxblood colour would be nice, it's a colour in itself, very popular and very versatile so you would be able to wear it again

something like this?

Matching shoes and bag is a bit naff IMO. Up there with fascinators

Thanks everyone. I'd not thought of oxblood, that clutch is lovely Ravioli.
