Ankle boots acceptable with dress?

I like wearing dresses or casual skirts with thin black leggings because I hate the feel of tights.

Is it weird to wear ankle boots with this? Shoes don't cover the sock / leggings join. I am short of leg and largish so I am aware I am probably not doing myself favours but am pregnant so heels are out and I don't want to buy flat knee length boots.

Both my DD's do this. Boots with skirts, dresses, jeans, smart trousers. It looks great on them.

I think this is a lovely look. Hoping to create it myself this autumn/winter but no idea what dresses/boots to get.

Ankle boots with tights and dress are fine, and indeed my usual work winter staple. Leggings are always a no, though...

I hope so, that's what I live in!
