Major Break Out - HELP could it be Mineral Oil

Hi Everyone,

I've a dreadful breakout occurring over the last few months (constantly not monthly) on my chin and jaw line (right side only). I'm at my wits end with it as I feel like a teenager again. It wasn't even this bad as a teenager ???? It could be just hormones but I've also started using a Laura Mercier Creme Foundation and wondered if that could be the culprit? Does anyone know if it contains mineral oil? I've checked the ingredients list and am none the wiser. Help........! Im going out with my husband tonight for a lovely meal and I'd like to not feel so shitty about my skin ????

If it say parafinum liquidum on it then yes
Silicone rich ingredients words ending in -ones or -anes also cause me spots
Plus b. Parkii also known as shea butter causes me terrible spots- actually the worst ingredients for me anyway

Try Paula's choice for an explanation of the ingrediants

blackpoppy · 28/08/2015 14:03

Thanks Kennington, I can't see any of those ingredients you mention. I'll check out Paula's Choice. I guess it's probably just hormones. At the ages of 36 I seem to be more up and down with hormones than ever. Its not good at all. It's also so strange that all the congestion and spots are on the one side. There must be a reason I just can't seem to figure it out!

I use an acid tonier by Vichy during my period. Normaderm green bottle

Am no expert though!!!!

Just a theory but are you right handed and do you use a phone clamped to your right ear? Try using an antibacterial wipe to clean phones and try not to touch your face.

LovelyFriend · 28/08/2015 17:43

Have you changed your hair style recently so your hair now touches your face a lot?
Similar to sonata's phone theory, a new hair cut can mean hair products etc touch the face in a way they didn't used to?

Are you always sleeping on that side?

blackpoppy · 28/08/2015 18:25

I shall have a look at that acid toner Kennington, I've been using nip and fab pads but they don't seem to make any positive difference so it's worth a try!

Sonata1- I hardly ever use the phone so I really don't think it could be that. Probably should antibac it anyway considering the number of sticky fingers that use it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

LovelyFriend- no change in hair cut and I do tie my hair back often thanks for the reply though!

Annoying, when I feel positive I think who cares, no ones dying! It's only skin issues. Then sometimes it gets me down so much I want to avoid talking up close with people because I think that's all they can probably see.

Along the jaw and chin sounds like hormonal acne, something I know about too well, grr. Mine is related to my PCOS and I get more outbreaks on my right side which is the side of the ovary with the cysts.
You have my sympathy, tis a horrible affliction to live with. Try getting your gp to refer you to a dermatologist.

Wolpertinger · 28/08/2015 19:04

Are you using the Nip and Fab glycolic pads or the dragons blood (salicylic)?

Lots of people tried both on the Amazing Faces quiche and generally the glycolic were abandoned by those with oily or combination skin in favour of the dragons blood ones which were much more recommended.
