'Secure' bikinis

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 27/08/2015 17:18

This is for next year so not after specific items, but maybe some ideas of retailers?

Every year with the kids I end up wearing a one piece as I've never found a bikini that feels secure running down the beach, doing handstand competitions in the pool etc.

Everything firm looking is basically a bra (black underwire with bra style straps = so dull I would rather wear a costume) or in a print my mother would call jazzy.

Does anyone know where to get good, firm bikinis. Quite busty, size 14 if that's relevant.

Have you tried bravissimo?

Arsenic · 27/08/2015 17:19

Go retro, 50s style?

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 27/08/2015 17:23

I tried the local Bravissimo but left it late and it was very much jazzy prints. I wonder if I missed some gems earlier in the season?

Retro 50 s style sounds appealing. I didn't really see anywhere doing that this year.

I am shit at shopping for swimwear. Blush

Seafolly are more mainstream and also do some good retro styles though I must admit I didn't look this year.

It's a good, cheap time of year to buy swimwear though. Might be worth looking at the dept store sites and figleaves?

Figleaves.

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 27/08/2015 17:46

Gosh haven't thought of figleaves. Almost forgot they existed.

High waisted retro bottoms is probably no bad thing after three kids either. My stomach wasn't my best feature as a size 10 aged 18 and it certainly isn't now!

Look at Bravissimo online, they have loads, far more than in the shops, although I ordered a couple that I liked the look of and the bottoms were fine at the front, skimpy at the back.

They might have been OK for a romantic caribbean break (I think on another website they were described as medium coverage Confused.) but not for on holiday with my in-laws.

HaplessHousewife · 27/08/2015 17:51

Should have said, the ones I ordered were Freya ones so maybe avoid them. A Bravissimo branded one was fine.

It's annoying that they don't have pictures of the back...

Ah yes. Good warning. Last thing you need as you hare down the beach after a toddler is to be re- arranging a wedgie!

You need to start looking at Bravissimo in April time otherwise there is nothing left.

April! I'm not that organised.Shock
