Dd has asked me to ask here. She'd like to go blonde (not too blonde) she is mid brown. She bought a bog standard hair dye which when tested on a strand (a small chunk that she cut off) did nothing. Her twin has told her she needs one of the above but she has no idea. I'm allergic to hair dye so haven't a clue either. Any advice gratefully received.
Thank you!

I use a prelightener then a tint.

What dye and what shade did she use? I'm naturally mid brown and can use certain box dyes successfully to go blonde but others have made no difference (or turned it a weird shade of bronze...)

It's a garnier nutrisse shade 7.3, Dark Golden Blonde!
Any advice welcomed!

A level 7 colour will turn out light to mid brown on her, so that's why it hasn't made a difference. Whatever the colour on the box, she will end up a few shades darker! At the moment I've been using this which is a nice blonde but probably too light for what she is after. A level 9 colour would be ideal for her, she could possibly try a level 8 but it may turn out mousey rather than blonde.

Rockchick I'm going to try that. It's been done but it's actually turned out ginger, which I did warn her it might. She doesn't mind ginger when she's on her own. She does mind ginger when she's out with her boyfriend, who is ginger, they now have matching hair, in length and colour!
